Agents have handlers, servants have masters, and auxiliaries blab about serving you constantly while not engaging in any espionage.

I am not surprised, these kinds of changes are all over the place these days. I fail to see what it accomplishes beyond whitewashing as avoiding "uncomfortable terms" does nothing to engage with the reason for them being uncomfortable in the first place. Stinks of things will get better if we stop talking about them.

This is not a SEGA-ism but the handling of the changes is consistently poor. Could the Auxiliary ask how you want to be addressed? Least effort solutions like this are not endearing. SEGA had no problem with the original localization by virtue of having made it in the first place, but then jumped bandwagon and fiddled with it.

RE: Launcher mobility walking and shooting

Playing a CAST I would love to go Gundam and build a MS-09 Dom that can fire a launcher on the move. However, unless it is a special skill ring, skill stance, or unique launcher it looses all flavor if the lancher is a single shot aoe rifle. A build that reverses the dynamic to mobile launcher and statinary, prone or crouching with rifle could be fun.

RE: Option to bind a walk button for keyboard

I agree. Any binding available for controller should be available on keyboard and vice versa. Individual sub pallet item and weapon access would be nice without having to bind extra buttons to keyboard digits.

This is especially annoying when the program does not play nice with remapping tools. I have not been able to get PSO2 to cooperate with Virtual Controller or UCR.

Agreed, localization is about increassing access to content, censorship is "suppressing parts deemed objectionable." The latter will happen during the former and may be required by law or to meet a conten rating. I believe the main objection is to anything beyond the required that does not improve access.

Perhapse if lobbies or some kind of communal non combat area could be instanced fandoms that do not interact well with one another would stay out of each others way.

Or maybe a voluntary tag and hide system. This player is self rated M for language, I set my filter to T on language and said player is muted to me, or hiden if it was subjective behavior instead of language.

To keep this somewhat topical, it would work with height too; hide or substitute below X cm. However, that would have required the limit to have been for player comfort and not legal compliance is some obscure English speaking jurisdiction. Hence the need for disclosure.

I believe the only real "demand" is official aknowledgement and dialogue on the issue. We know that our concerns are being passed along, but we have not seen a response from the recipients .

How best to summarize the issue and the sides there of becomes complicated due to the subpoints and divergent opinions on them. "Full content" vs "censored content" may be the most fair to both sides.

I want answers or transperency so we can make and debate actionable proposals, and believe the only opposition to disclosure is from those that fear disclosure would lead to content restoration and some kind of fallout.

Can we agree that we want global to prosper and be something we can all enjoy, even if we disagree on how to get there?

I wonder how receptive players would be to this censorship if it was flagged in game. For instance

  • The following scene has been modified: Clothes Added

  • The following scene has been removed: <Scene Description>

  • Height Slider: 140 to 150 greyed out instead of truncated at 150

Then have a system wide survey to see how players really feel...

What does "true fandom" have to do with disclosure? Do "true fans" object to knowing why a game was localized the way it was?

This thread is about rationale disclosure not the change itself. Can we please take the discussion of the change itself to the censorship thread instead? The "true fan" debate is not "an in game suggestion" so maybe it belongs in Community or Off Topic if the question is not PSO2 exclusive?

RE: An Alternative Solution For The Height Restriction/Censorship

Given that the contents of the game files and not in game access to, defines the rating and legality of the work, a "Culturized" NA launcher and an unadulterated English Global launcher could be options. This global launcher could even be an all region import for consoles or side loaded on PC. The localized launcher would then replaced "missing" assets with generic replacements. Pick you own experience and let others have theirs, if a toggle is not practical for technical or political reasons.

Philosophically, I accept cultural changes only as a means to get a translation of a work that would otherwise have to small of a market to warrant the effort, and hope it ignites interest in the original. For example, Robotech is acceptable because it creates inters in anime and may lead viewers to Macross.

Otherwise, in the name of "inclusion and diversity," we sterilize a cultural export to fit our local mores failing at the stated goal in the process. Let's make it more inclusive by taking the diverse bits our, what is one including at that point anyways.

A quick a side on added clothes to scene. "There is a strange (fully dressed) child in my room" - That is odd, why are you so freaked out? Vs. "There is a naked child in my bed" - Oh, that is bad, panicking might be good now.
