RE: Is Luster Coming Soon?

Luster:

  • 1 : a glow of reflected light, sheen specifically; the appearance of the surface of a mineral dependent upon its reflecting qualities, i.e. the luster of polished metal.

  • 2a : a glow of light from within, i.e. luminosity, the luster of the stars.

RE: PSO2 Station January 23

@ZarexWolf Considering NGS itself is still free to play, and at no cost or reduction to PSO2 as it currently is, I don't see too much of an issue there. Sure, it'd be great to just have the old stuff updated, but if they do it for the defaults or start cherry picking specific cosmetics, people will complain "well what about X item that I paid for? What about Y? What about Z?"

From a marketing perspective it's a two-fold incentive:

  • If they have it - they'll want the NGS version

  • If they don't have it - this is a fresh opportunity to not only get it, but get a better version of it

  • If they have it and don't want the NGS version - they still have and can use the original

  • Neither have nor want either version - It's a non-issue

RE: If you can fit it into tomorrow's maintenance, please correct the "Rivalate" weapons.

Save the translation outrage for things that actually impact gameplay.

No outrage here. In fact I opened with:

No pitchforks, no raging, just a simple request to correct what's perhaps a localization oversight.

I know we're kinda used to overblown reactions/responses here, but there's no harm in saying "hey, this looks/is a bit off. Can you fix it as part of the next maintenance?"

RE: If you can fit it into tomorrow's maintenance, please correct the "Rivalate" weapons.

When you look at the many times localization seems to trip over the old R/L confusions between Japanese and English - something that really shouldn't be a thing in gaming anymore in 2020 - it looks like quite a swing and a miss. Still, if it in fact was not originally intended to be "Liberate" but close to it, that's fine. Weird, but fine.

Rivalate-Liberate.png

"Rivalate" is not a word. But it DOES sound rather close to how "Liberate" might be spelled using Katakana. (lit. "ri-ba-re-to") Plus there's the weapon potential to factor here, "Liberated Fang". . . It's a bit of a giveaway at that one. So please - even if it can't be fit into this maintenance schedule - please correct "Rivalate" to "Liberate" as it's far more likely to have been intended.

RE: Can we Stop With Pointless Censorship?

I can understand a lot of the possible reasons why various things were changed, and I'm not even upset by them (as the game is still quite enjoyable regardless of said changes), but in the case with the Smart Inner innerwear, there's no longer any valid reason for the omission of it, especially with the addition of "Seana Leathers [In]" which is literally Smart Inner with a tattoo.

I'm not here to debate or argue a case for every single thing that's been changed. Only that in this case, simply add the original item that was available from the start. No pitchforks, no sky-is-falling overreactions. Just simply replace what was removed. There's no reason not to now.

Suggestion: Photo Mode for NGS

I imagine it's already been asked or mentioned, but can we get a full photo mode in New Genesis?

The fixed angles we already get are nice, but with the coming graphical overhaul and the scale of the open field environment, it would really be a wasted opportunity to not let players fully enjoy and showcase it with a fully featured photo mode! GMs please pass the idea along to the devs to see if it can be worked in!

Take a look at The Division 2 or Ghost of Tsushima as strong examples of the kind of photo mode that would be perfect for New Genesis.

RE: Bingo B side requires PVP? no thanks!

Latency happens. It sucks, it's a pain in the ass even when it doesn't impact your performance, but it's been a part of anything competitive online since that became a thing. I'm NOT saying it's totally okay and people have to accept it as it is, but - speaking at least from my experience with Frontlines since it was added to present, and with regards to the usual criticisms of netcode/lag/server ticks/slow GCD (side note: it's just a little faster than the PvE GCD now) - the players that wanted to do well or just enjoy it adapted to it. And it's entirely possible to adapt to it - IF people try.

This is not to be taken as "git gud" or anything so unproductive to say. I understand latency issues from when I tried it on the JP version, and even now, and I truly sympathize with people who have to deal with worse latency than others purely because of where they live. But I HAVE seen people that wanted to do well adapt, and I understand it can be done if players are willing.

RE: What suggestion can we give the Sega team that makes the NA platform distinctively different than the JP platform? Something even JP veterans didn’t see coming.

Considering the strive for parity between regions as the overarching goal heading toward New Genesis. . .

. . .How about we just enjoy the game and not worry about who has what that the other doesn't have? The game is plenty fun in its own right, whether you know what's different/exclusive or not.

RE: Bingo B side requires PVP? no thanks!

I won't go too deep into it, but Frontlines - until the rework in Stormblood - WAS a good example of decent, not perfect, decent PvP. . . But the community's refusal to learn or even TRY it, SE's frequent neglect, then over-tweaking of it, and the fact that the once dedicated community that supported it for 4 years while everyone else avoided it and called it "bad" without actually trying it (OR like I've seen here, assuming defeat and making no effort to even try) simply walked away from it in disgust and disappointment once it was supposedly "improved" with the rework says a LOT.

Like. . . when did gamers just become so okay with giving up without even trying? Or playing a GAME without trying to win? OR even just playing to be entertained, win or lose? I won't mince words; it's kinda pathetic. I know I might be stepping on toes to say it, but if you won't even try, you don't deserve the reward, big or small.

BUT! Nothing's being forced on anyone. When you've got to go out of your way to go to a completely separate lobby - so separate you can't even use some of the common functions of the game while there - and actively make effort to queue for a match, that's not being forced. That's active effort. No effort, no reward.
