RE: SG cosmetic "sales" and the current state of SG.

The SG Scratch Ticket is twice as expensive as the ARKS Cash tickets. If anything the monetization is getting worse over time instead of improving. I can only imagine some people are still spending absurd amount of money. Not me though. I went from spending $200+ in a month to just $40 because of that sort of thing. I appreciate that the game finally came over and that there's work being made to catch to JP but the monetization is too much. And let's not forget that Mission Pass items and Daily Shop items are still not account bound (except for emotes). Disappointing.

@GM-Deynger Thank you very much! Very quick response too. 👍

RE: New Recruits! Have a question? Post it here!

I didn't claim everything from this last mission pass even though I completed it (full inventory last night and then forgot). I logged on just before 7pm EST and it was inaccessible. Does anyone know if the previous season Mission Pass will be available to grab the items from it after maintenance? Help @GM-Deynger

@Total-Sacrifice Yes, this has definitely been mentioned to the team and will be again. 🙂

@Total-Sacrifice , thank you for bringing this up. 🙂

I appreciate you guys interacting with the community. I hope we see some favorable changes in the game in the future. I'm still a fan of the game despite its drawbacks.

RE: Make the mission pass awards cross-character unlocked.

It is absolutely unacceptable that in 2020 we have battlepass that does not award account bound items. Of the major GaaS games this is THE ONLY ONE DOING THIS. Stuff like this prevents me from recommending the game to family and friends which is the exact opposite of what I thought I would be doing when PSO2 finally launched in the West.

@GM-Beemo @GM-Beppo @GM-bill @GM-Bleed @GM-Cheezpuff @GM-Cinder @GM-Deynger @GM-Fatal4866 @GM-Hamed @GM-JJDragon Guys, please share this with your sales & strategy teams and SoJ.

@IfrianMMO said in SG cosmetic "sales" and the current state of SG.:

I am sure Deynger is going to keep their word and report it and attempt to have our concerns heard.

But just like anyone with some MMO experience knew the PSO2NA version would get heavily monetized from the very moment they announced it was coming during the E3, anyone with MMO experience knows such act will do very precious little.

The only thing that matters and that causes real change is when money speaks, which means that change will only come if Microsoft/Sega feel that their current model is backfiring and/or profits are being lost.

If the current model is being profitable and there is a business growth by keeping things as they are, i highly doubt they will change anything, or they will just concede some very minor things just to show off how much they do "Listen to the community"

I want to specify and repeat, this is not exclusive to PSO2, this is not something that just happened now for the very first time with PSO2, it´s an extremely common and global way to handle Asian MMORPG in the West, because whales will whale and it´s from where most of the player-generated profits come, not from the casual that buys 1 month of premium every 5 months.

You're not wrong. Hopefully there isn't an overwhelming amount of folks buying from Fresh Finds or else it would hurt our argument.

@GM-Deynger said in SG cosmetic "sales" and the current state of SG.:

Hello all. Yes, this feedback is frequently being reported by me. I can say with happiness that we do have a track record now of implementing community-suggested improvements (and some NYI) so we'll see how this goes.

Thanks for this. I hope to see changes of some kind in the future. The game is still so fun to play and I would like it for it to be supported by players and flourish after waiting for it for so long.

RE: Fiona Respha's Fresh Finds Shop daily offerings

Thank you for the thread and updates @Fiona-Respha . It’s extremely unfortunate that its fallen on the community to provide transparency into the items being sold in Fresh Finds and the direct purchase SG items. Aside from the egregious prices and items besides emotes not binding to accounts, the lack of previews has been really frustrating. I’ve been using this thread before I started cutting down my spending so thank you again for your efforts (and money spent sadly) you’ve done.

RE: SG cosmetic "sales" and the current state of SG.

I’m glad to have found this thread. I also completely agree with how egregious the cosmetic sales have been thus far. I was already upset over the prices of the direct purchase SG items, lack of previews of the items in the Fresh Finds and weekend “sales”, and the fact that all items except for emotes bind to just one character. I had no idea PSO2 NA has less ways to earn SG than JP does; that’s even more insulting.

The game is already so heavily monetized elsewhere (Premium Set, storage additions and storage spaces, scapedolls, etc) that the SG stuff really burns on top of it all. And its not that I don’t want to spend money; I’m happy to support the game and have bought my fair share of Arks Cash for the scratches.

But this stuff is discouraging. It feels like someone is testing to see how far the game can go in getting people to spend money and that tells me that there is little respect for the consumer. Because of this stuff I’ve started curtailing my spending on the game and will continue to do so. I’m skipping the insane 400+ SG item and item sets on Fresh Finds and will continue skipping SG item bundles like the PSU stuff.

It’s one thing to ask for money for cosmetics to support the game and cover the costs of the servers, website, and support teams at Sega NA. But the game has gone way too far with the SG monetization. (And I would even argue that stuff like Scapedolls and item expansions should be a be cheaper; don’t charge me more than $0.50 or a $1.00 for that stuff).
