RE: How many people managed to actually play the PC version thus far?

I was able to download the game with relative ease & I've been able to play (though there is clear lag). I did play on the Xbox Beta, so that may have made the MS Store issues less of an issue for me as I was able to just install it from my library.

However, the current MS Store issues are not exclusive to PSO2 - took me HOURS yesterday to get Minecraft Dungeons downloaded from there, same issues as reported for PSO2. The same the day before for Halo.

MS Store have clearly dropped the ball.

That's pretty neat! Thanks for posting this.

RE: What do you play?

Techter/Force similar to @SpookyOh I enjoy playing a more supportive role.

But I do also want to level up summoner coz... cute pets!

RE: What are you going to do for open beta?

If I'm counting my fingers correctly it'll launch at midnight my time. So, I'm hoping to have as much done in the day/evening as possible so that I can spend a few days settling into the game.

Hoping to have a pot of homemade soup (rock & roll!) & to make some new friends in game.

I'll be hunting for shifta/deband tech discs as a priority once the server goes live. Not very exciting but they eluded me during the CBT.

There are certain people in this thread, that really need to chill.

I do not understand the entitled mindset of some people at all. Everything that Microsoft have said since E3 (as far as I can see) is happening within the outlined time frame. There hasn't been any surprises or major alterations in what was originally planned.

https://twitter.com/play_pso2/status/1216039123355455489 alt text Entitled? They have always been clear how they're doing it? lol no.

That image is just one example(response to someone wondering if PC in CBT) of many, that they have never been consistent with making it clear - when PC is coming or not.

So they only have themselves to blame, that they have now got lots of people looking for answers to where is PC. And no, it is not being "entitled" wanting to know when PC release even is. ("Spring" is too vague and just makes possible for people to assume worst, like say up to a month+ after Xbox)

https://twitter.com/search?q=beta testing (from%3Aplay_pso2)&src=typed_query

^Some reply tweets* where said beta testing period was exclusive to Xbox One(well two-ish of them), though again - a vague PC "coming in spring/launching later"... If actually are launching same time... why are they being quiet about it and letting people jump to worst scenario? Just keeps looking like some poor information handling, especially with their last response to people asking about PC(yesterday~):

"we are working on getting PC players some news as soon as possible." ... https://twitter.com/play_pso2/status/1237167798222082048

*Reply/response tweets... another thing that is annoying, they should of said this stuff in proper tweets/announcements.

Yes, entitled. The game is free to play.

They have been clear, they have said Spring 2020 the whole time for PC release - they continue to say this. I see no poor information handling. What I see is people being impatient because one platform is getting the game slightly ahead of another.

Look on the bright side, when it comes to PC at least you won't have to pay a Gold subscription to play.

They've even said on the official twitter PC release is "later in Spring" (I've deactivated my twitter account so can't get to the exact tweet at the moment).

Can I just point out as well that this is still a relatively regional release? If anyone is being "left behind" it's those of us outside of the NA region. Sure, the game isn't region blocked & sure all we have to do is set our Xbox to a different region but there's no guarantee that will always be the case and still no mention of a EU/AU release.

I'm just very excited by what's happening with the release & making the most of it while I can.

Very pleased and excited to hear this news. A lot quicker than I was expecting actually.

RE: PSO2 withdrawls

I'm having a really hard time concentrating on other games since the PSO2 closed beta. I've been dabbling in PSO:BB & Diablo 3 while I wait. I'm also slowly working way through the PSO2 anime.

But I find myself sat daydreaming about PSO2, even when I was providing voice lines for a game I was picturing it like PSO2 for visual reference.

Been playing the Bleeding edge beta to pass the time

How was that?

@BusterNewman Thats way more games than i expected to be crossplay. Good to see Sony getting on the fun train.

A form of SEGA ID could be set up for NA and somehow link the Microsoft account to it. How this would be implemented no idea but if they plan on releasing on other consoles im sure they are already talking behind the scenes to plan ahead.

The server assigned your account a name when you made your first character (which is why they allow one free change).

Theory is you would use that as your ID along with the password/a new password.

I noticed that during the first 2 days of the beta the social features (friends list etc) weren't fully functional & that when people would use whisper, it would come through as randomly assigned IDs.

When the game came back up on Sunday evening, the social features were more functional. People I added to my Xbox friends list were showing on the in game friends list, as their Xbox Gamertag not the randomly assigned IDs or their character name. Same with whispers, they'd come through as their gamertag.

Microsoft accounts/gamertags have functioned outside of Xbox but in a similar way (even giving trophies) for other games.

I imagined that for other platforms you would simply login/signup to your Microsoft account upon first launching the game. Like you would login to an Epic account for Fortnite/Dauntless, Activision account for CoDMW, Square Enix Account for FF14. I'm not sure why they would make it any more complicated than that? Even Steam games often require third party login (including Microsoft accounts) if the rumours of a Steam version are true.

It was the only potential hurdle I could see with PS4 cross-play though.

I am interested in how this will be carried out... firing up a PS4 game and finding the Xbox symbol on the login page could be quite amusing. Very interesting.

Same. The ins & outs of this kind of thing fascinate the heck out of me.

I've done some Googling and it does look like you can link a Microsoft account to PS4 Minecraft, so we wouldn't be in new waters.

RE: Do you plan to buy AC when the game launches

@Geordie-P said in Do you plan to buy AC when the game launches:

I dunno im having second thoughts about paying money for a ten year old game of unknown longevity..... hmm

I unfortunately have the same concern. I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade but regardless of which way we look at it, PSO2 is almost 8 years old (8th anniversary is June I think?). That's already longer than any of the other online Phantasy Star games lasted.

I was there for PSO shutting down & I was there for the farce that was the end off PSU. These games were pay to play and certain versions had mandatory subscriptions to play online. It doesn't leave the best impression. I would hate for us a community to fall in love with this game after an 8 year wait to have the plug pulled too soon (again). Or for a new entry in the franchise (released in Japan or otherwise) to split the community.

With that said, we're in a completely different time for gaming now. Games are supported a lot longer, even with relatively small communities & PSO2 has proven to be a success. It will likely support it's self for a long time.

But given the history, I do have my concerns.

Thanks dude. So is the anime good

The first series was kinda "Meh" for me. But the second series "Episode Oracle" has been good so far (I haven't finished it yet).

@AnonMarc said in Ps4 beta date?:

@FluffyShinobi Hasn't it already happen with Fortnite or some other game?

Bit late for this but off the top of my head; Fortnite (as discussed), Dauntless, Paladins, Smite, Realm Royale, CoD MW & I believe Minecraft (recent addition) & Rocket League all have cross-play with PS4 & Xbox One (and of course PC, Nintendo Switch & in some cases mobile). I'm probably missing a few too. It's not such a taboo issue for PS4 these days.

Some of these even have varying degrees of cross-progression (games connected to Epic usually).

I often play on PC with a controller & so I'm matched with console users, some of the games (CoD MW & Dauntless from recent memory) actually show the various console icons to show who is playing on what.

There's really no reason if PSO2 NA comes to other platforms that it wouldn't be cross-play. My only trepidation that it wouldn't happen is that it would appear PSO2 NA seems to be linked to a Microsoft account instead of a SEGA ID.

EDIT: I've never played Minecraft on a PS4 so I'm not sure if you're required to login to a Microsoft account on that but I had to login to one when I played it on the Nintendo Switch... so perhaps that wouldn't even be a hurdle.

@BusterNewman Tyvm for the detailed explanation/ history lesson :).

Haha you're welcome.

I only know because I tend to follow Phantasy Star & Resident Evil around depending on which platforms they end up on. Got lucky with the GameCube for a few years 😄 !
