@Gumpy366 said in Awaiting PC release, I have a quick question.:
Was the market tanked by people abusing the initial xbox pass that gave 1mil creds? I don't want to come into a market like JP that was completely demolished by bug abusers.
Nope, it was totally fine. It was caught and mitigated fast enough that it didn't really do anything to the economy. Prices are still fair and attainable for almost everything.
Also, as a player of the JP version, how confusing are the new translations in relation to the fan translations?
They're fine. Most of the time the new translations are phoenetically similar; e.g. "Digg" is now "Deeg", that sort of thing. Or, the translations are R and L flipped- Bal Rodos is now Bar Lodos, for example. It's fine, and adjusting to it was relatively quick.

Ooohh FFXI was a great game, i remember when it first came out and i was still in high school trying to get the game updated which took like almost a whole day on release xD
Sadly the game still has a 512 Kbps connection maximum. (Server-side.)
Thankfully, they FINALLY released the client in a larger chunk so you can download almost the entire thing before installing, bypassing that limit
@QuietMonster843 ah ha, i second-guessed myself and edited my message
Glad you got it figured out!
@NEXTEL-CUP because it shows up on your profile. You can see your percentage of S-ranks, but to the best of my knowledge it doesn't affect drops.
Look at it this way, if you're doing a quest and it had just started, and you pop open a boss's core, there's no way for the game to know what your quest ranking is while determining loot. There's all sorts of superstitions about this game and what affects loot and PSE bursts and rare enemy spawns, and your quest ranking is just one more of them.
Also, you need an S or an A rank to receive quest completion credit for some client orders.
@NEXTEL-CUP S rank really isn't that important dude, you're spending money that could go towards so much more. Head back to the ship, refill on moons, it's not going to hurt you. And aside from that, you said you use a scape doll on enemies that drop 30k or more experience? That's so little. You could make that up in about 3 minutes in an Advance Quest. The enemies in a Super Hard Advance Quest give between 1000-2000 experience each, not to mention the boss fights you'll find in there.
Hold L-trigger and scroll down through the list while you're at the appraisal counter!
@NEXTEL-CUP I guarantee you that they're not worth it. Yeah, you can only carry 5, but your teammates can each carry 5 as well. That's 20 deaths that can be covered at least (if multiple people die the value of a Moon goes up), and at that point if you've died that many times then your ranking is meaningless, moreso than it already is, just go back to the ship and get more. If you're doing a regular quest and not an Urgent Quest, you can use a telepipe to go back and restock at any point before the boss with no penalty.
@NEXTEL-CUP I mean, my personal experience has shown that rank doesn't matter. I've got 300 hours on my character on NA and multiple characters with hundreds of hours on JP, and have never seen a lower drop chance with a lower rank.
While searching for a concrete "proof", I'm seeing conflicting reports, but the guide that says it DOES matter was written in 2014, while another guide saying it DOESN'T matter was written in 2016.
The only thing I can prove is that it hasn't affected my drops. I got a B on a SH Luther run while playing my Summoner class, and still got 3 Sigma weapons and 3 Deo weapons, along with his entire armor set.
@NEXTEL-CUP not ever worth buying scape dolls. Never ever.
