RE: Just finished story content at the current update.

@Knight-Raime said in Just finished story content at the current update.:

I think EP6 is my favorite so far just because of how easy it is to understand. EP 1-3 felt pretty disjointed and felt pretty hard to follow because it just seemed like a bunch of different things happening at once. I still don't quite understand why Matoi is so important to our character even after it all.

This is an unfortunate side-effect of how the story originally was for EP1-3 in JP - matterboards. Besides the essential chapter story quests you played through, there were matterboards you had to complete to a certain minimum with various cutscenes, fighting random enemies a certain amount of times for a drop, etc. There were very few requirement to proceed short of filling the red nodes on the matterboard with numerous side cutscenes and such. When they turned them into what's called 'omnibus' quests, they sort of took out most of the pointless side cutscenes, kept the important ones, and threw them into the original story quests. These omnibus quests are what NA now has as regular story mode, and was also incorporated as the regular playthrough for story on JP as well later on right before NA came out.

RE: Br/Ph might not be for you if you don't learn to play Br properly

@VanillaLucia said in Br/Ph might not be for you if you don't learn to play Br properly:

@Milranduil This has only happened to be once on the Japanese side if anything and that was because at the time I was a Level 80 Hero when every other class except the Hero was able to go up to Level 85. For that particular quest I got frustrated enough with trying to find groups that I eventually just went in to solo the Black Dragon because of the hostility I got from other English-speaking players there.

Beyond that from my impressions of other players, the ones who have the ability to chat-and-play and the ones to backseat-game for others even in the middle of an Emergency Quest are the people to me who are expecting to be carried and this translates to the global version for me as well. I have not encountered any particular "hyper-elite" players other than the saltier players who leave a Good Job/Kudos message to essentially shame you for your fashion, your gameplay choices (class, equipment, and the likes), or that you didn't help them get their record clear they expected. A part of this personally makes me ashamed to have been on the Gaijin ship as some of my Japanese friends were seemingly put off by some of the more obnoxious foreign players there as well.

it's funny to me because the vast majority of JP players i've interacted with don't mind all of the foreigners on ship2 or all over twitter. they do their thing or join them with memes. i've encountered less than 5 players over 8 years who genuinely get annoyed at foreigners playin on the jp version, and it's usually some cultural stuff. completely unrelated to class choice, gameplay, etc.

@Sparhawk the game sure does not care. The 9ne that do are players, and player are quick to outcast someone if they don't pull their weight.

In JP people get kicked put of UQ even on non Veteran Mode instanced content.

this is demonstrably false. there is no other way to say it

@Vexation said in Br/Ph might not be for you if you don't learn to play Br properly:

At no point did OP mention a video or state this was a warning about possible misinformation in his original post. How else were we supposed to take it? He literally said "Learn to play the class" I'd like to point out that your subclass changes how you play anyways. So people switching sub to phantom for the extra damage would already be aware they didn't have hunters automate anymore and would thus have to learn/alter their playstyle. This is common sense. Which doesn't warrant the attitude with which the information was given out in the first place. If you want to be helpful there are ways to and not to go about it.

thank you for pointing out the exact reason threads like this are necessary. tons of players have no common sense, jp or na alike.

for what it's worth to try and be helpful, my youtube is littered with br/ph gameplay of tons of ep6 content if anyone is actually trying to prepare for dropping hu sub.

I see a lot of refrences to the scions and their usefulness as subs. Do people just not main them as much? Totally off topic but I am curious.

Scion classes are mained much more in Japan than the base classes by a large margin. It's just when people are stubborn enough to play the base classes many of the weaknesses they have are also patched up by using the Scion classes as a sub class because of how much damage and utility they bring, there are a few exceptions of course like Force/Techter, Gunner/Fighter, etc. but it's pretty rare when a Scion class is generally worse than a base class as a sub class further pushing the idea that people should use a Scion class instead of a base class.

makes me laugh when global players push this narrative more than jp players actually do when just giving commentary about balance

Na I’ll be facetanking UH as HU/ET. Ez Pz. Thanks for the advice tho.

it's not about you

Op sure made it sound that way. Not how I would give advice.

i mean the OP is about braver players, not hunter players. i don't know how to put this more simply... @HarmlessSyan said in Br/Ph might not be for you if you don't learn to play Br properly:

Well, global is still going to have a much easier time easing into EP6.

Just having level 95 off the bat is a huge boost as 91+ gives PP per level and the skill points that these 5 level provides. Level cap wasn't raised until like 10 months into EP6 on JP.

Also seems like they are adding alot of Zig upgrades right off the bat with Rivalate Key/Unlocker in the mission pass - JP waited 8 months to see the unlocker that released with Etoile. JP waited 6 months into EP6 to even see the first 13 star units that came in as Schvelle set, it was after over a year where they allowed upgrade of Austere/Ofze and later Lightstream/Trailblazer into 13 stars.

you're right that ep6 is still going to start easier than we had it on JP. however, the UH spike is so large that this advantage isn't going to mean as much as you think.

here's an example: XH goldrahdas have about 250k hp. in UH free fields, 4 million with damage to back it up. small mistakes become enough to do half your HP bar, and big mistakes get you nearly or completely one shot.

What's up with all these "Get good at this class or stop playing" posts? I haven't seen many people complain about the difficulty except Phang which is a side boss that doesn't give very good rewards.

Seriously play however style you want. IT'S A COMPUTER GAME!!!!

it's a justified warning because things in UH are going to do about as much damage as phaleg does

RE: WHICH SCION CLASS DO YOU THINK IS THE STRONGEST? HERO? PHANTOM? ETOILE? LUSTER?

@NotWhoUThink said in WHICH SCION CLASS DO YOU THINK IS THE STRONGEST? HERO? PHANTOM? ETOILE? LUSTER?:

Also real quick question, why are we using Persona UH as a benchmark for raid bosses when there are clearly harder bosses? In JP I'm pretty sure the benchmark checking for dps is Omega Masquerade depth 999 in which case I've seen no Hunter gameplay much less a fast clear time from a Hunter main? I'm asking a serious question btw.

moving the goal post, classic. go click that person (shana's) youtube for more hunter vids

masquerade is not a benchmark because it's an evaluation of how many different damage sources a class has to kill a boss quickly.

@NotWhoUThink said in WHICH SCION CLASS DO YOU THINK IS THE STRONGEST? HERO? PHANTOM? ETOILE? LUSTER?:

And to add on to this there are plenty of other classes that can clear Persona UH in a much shorter time frame as well making Hunter not very good at dpsing compared to other classes.

i'm waiting for some links
