Turns out it's not only weapons. The material thumbnails will not load unless highlighted when at the Mag. This happens on Xbox and PC as well.

Glad you were able to exchange some and that it get's ironed out!
https://ngs.pso2.com/news/announcements/maintenanceover0608 They are the same client so base PSO2 will be down as well.
How did people ever expect Sega to update the massive amount of PSO2 outfits with the new models in mind, which have somewhat different anatomy, and do it for FREE?
This. As someone who's been an animator for free to play games, having new meshes with additional features can't simply be applied to really old rigs. Do people really think 8 years ago Sega knew to prepare for assets at this fidelity? They probably had no idea they would even pull an NGS.
It seems a lot of consumers think there is a giant "upgrade" button, no one actually has to crank out all this crap. That models with new topology just extrudes itself, somehow creates resolution out if thin air, and all of the painted weights simply work without a verticy out of place. Once you've worked in the industry it can be tiring to hear how insurmountable some of the demands can be.
In the prologue 4 trailer one of the clerks at the counter was wet, presumably because it was raining so there is still nope.
@MasterDarkwingz I think they are going more in the direction of feeling like real world materials, even though it's stylized judging that they are giving the option to choose a subsurface skin tone which will determine the kind of coloration you'll get when light hits it. So many other anime games like Blue Protocol, Genshin Impact, and Tower of Fantasy are already doing the cel shaded look so I'm glad New Genesis is differentiating itself from that. I think this has the potential to have way broader appeal and ultimately more expression than the narrow lens of cell shaded anime. To be honest that's truer to the original PSO's vision, wanting it to have a universal comic book look, as the director had put it. I don't think they intend to "fix" it because it's a different art direction and unfortunately that makes all of our old characters look like vinyl figures haha.
@The-Merfox I see what you're saying. Do you know why they had to do this? And what kind of engineering should they have done to avoid the corridors? I just get frustrated because often time people throw around words like "lazy" without having reason or knowledge of what it takes to make those features possible.
