@DHG-MumfordsSon Comparatively, I can see this as being predatory in nature. I'm one of the people that can "whale" if i want, however I do not. Currently saving for a new home and that takes precedence. I'm a baby whale at best one could say. That being said, if you look at other comparative tickets, like the AC tickets for example, they're a decent value. $2 per ticket or $22 for 12.
You can buy a ragol pack and it's $29.99 for 10 ragol badges (so roughly 3 outfits) a month of premium and 12 scratch tickets. That alone is a 39.99 value regardless of the outfits so you're saving about $10, maybe a little less due to the discount on the 12 scratch. Furthermore, all of the items from AC tickets are trade allowed so free to play players can actually acquire them through meseta. As a PC player, I joined late (don't have an xbox, don't really need / want one.) and have had to farm my ass off to get some of the items due to them going out of scratch and the prices being jacked up or me not being on the server when they were offered, thus inflated prices. This is the nature of the beast and I'm alright with it.
These star gem tickets however are another matter. For the reward in it, you get a ticket after 40 pulls. Even most of the other AC tickets gave rewards after 5-10 pulls, like the claw accessories etc in that one AC scratch. 40 SG pulls with current pricing is 3200 star gems. That's over $100 USD for star gems because, let's be realistic, I doubt anyone has 3200 SG saved up to just go on a mass pulling spree. If they do, they are definitely outside the norm. Furthermore, they are bound to the account and not able to be traded. This means the only way to obtain them is to spend money, really. When coupled with the massive amount of items in the ticket not to mention things like ex cubes and other useless items, it does very much seem predatory because you are getting items there is, currently, little to no use for.
When you couple this with the amount of ways to get SG in the game...Outfits are the primary method. As someone alluded to above, having 12 characters and outfits on ship 2 are now at minimum, 300-500k...That's near 4 million a day for 120 sg or..1 pull. There is the story mode, but that's a one time thing and maybe gives you 1k sg at most if you complete everything. The pricing with star gems in the shop compared to AC is also way skewed. It really doesn't make any sense as to why it's so much higher when compared to AC and when complimented with fresh finds, your SG wallet is very low. It is predatory because it creates a mental state for fashionistas that "If I don't get this now, I won't be able to get it." and to be frank, creating mindsets like that intentionally is predatory and seeks to prey upon the low willpower of those that might have issues controlling themselves.
So yes, saying this is predatory isn't really a stretch of the imagination. There are a lot of problems with this particular scratch, though the items not being trade allowed in the first place is the major issue. This, however, is just my two cents. Take it as you will.
