@GHNeko it's precisely because its a skill based game that arbitrary numbers will never work well!! are you completely out of your mind?
The devs do not decide how much of the playerbase becomes good at the game. End of Story.
Also why would you EVER defend a one size fits all system designed to raise a small portion of the community over the others, an ARBITRARY one?!
That is all kinds of messed up man. Just accept that I was right that a more flexible system that allows players to set their own expectations is objectively superior, becuase this is a cut and dry case of something that is one size fits all vs letting players decide on their expectations for their groups.
It's not even an argument here, it never was. Expert Matching as it was on JP was always a terrible poorly conceived system, and you should be discussing how to create a better one, not defending it. I can't believe how dumb people are.
I'm completely within my mind. If they want 30% of the player base to maintain expert, that's their decision and it's not implicitly a bad choice because it's clearly a bullet point they want to fufill where more serious players are able to filter out less serious players lol. You literally cannot discern a number that is objectively good in terms of player % cut off for a filter designed for minority players (serious/tryhard/competitive/etc). It's always going to be subjective and arbitrary. That's just how game design is sometimes and you cannot get around it.
The devs are not deciding who are good at the game. They're deciding, based off of the player base progression, if the ratio that they wanted for expert is keeping up with the new gear. You can't maintain a standard that inherently needs to keep pace with game progression without actually changing the standard itself.
Expert doesn't raise one portion of the community over the others. It's not needed to play the game. It's completely optional. Not using it doesn't ruin the game for you unless you're literally only riding on the coattails of stronger players with no intention of improving yourself. It's not messed up because you cannot create a flexible system for locking out weaker players like FF14 when it's completely possible to out perform people with 15* decked out gear with 13* gear.
I would know because I've been doing it for years in JP. Because of how gear progression works in PSO2 and how sometimes lower rarity gear is sometimes reusable and excessively strong in niche situations; you can only rely on skill based criteria, but because you can freely change characters and classes and skill trees for a variety of reasons, you can't even really create a uniquely tailored threshold for being considered expert easily.
On top of this, but Sega still is aware that a majority of the userbase are casual players which is why Expert isnt even a measure of high skill, but rather a measure of basic masteries of game mechanics and the ability to learn enemy patterns well and exploit them accordingly.
Also please stop actually insulting people; you're not making your arguments any stronger and if anything it's just making it look like you bad.
