@Teasa i think its more down to local ratings and local laws, but nowhere in those ratings is it certified for pornographic images.
To me it is quality content and pso2 never had any of it. Don't compare playtime with playtime, because running cradle or doing easy mode UQs isn't nearly as fun as doing raid bosses with your guild in WoW.
There you go, we found the middle ground "Fun is subjective", using your same example grinding for hours to me with my buddies is fun while playing a slow paced game like WoW is incredibly boring, but to each their own right?
I also can't believe people call FF14 ARR a bad game at release when we have NGS. So in which trash tier does this game belong then? In my opinion f2p would at least mean you can sell on the market without premium. The only reason people aren't complaining is that there is no real need to sell stuff for now, which could change any update.
Quoting Wikipedia: "After its alpha test and a delayed beta test, the game went live on September 30, 2010, remaining active until its servers were closed on November 11, 2012. At launch, the game was met with a negative response: while the graphics and music were praised, other aspects were unanimously panned, including the gameplay, interface, and the general impression of the game being unfinished. Critic and fan backlash caused Square Enix to suspend subscription fees, indefinitely postpone the PlayStation 3 version, and replace the development team leadership, with Naoki Yoshida as producer and director. Yoshida decided to make marginal improvements before the game's shutdown, replacing it with a new version initially subtitled A Realm Reborn. "
FF14 on launch was disaster, no one is saying NGS wasn't bad either, the whole point is that we should give it a chance just like everyone gave FF14 a chance.
If sega would make NGS buy to play nobody would play it. Similar to other mmo's, the free2play model is just there to bait people into the game, but with the state NGS is in, nobody would buy it for 40$ after seeing all it has to offer on youtube. Also, these games do everything they can do annoy you with limited inventory/bank space, certain almost necessary purchases and a subscription that in NGS' case gives you access to selling items, which isn't the biggest part for now but it will be very important in the future. How can you justify paying 13$ for premium in such a game, when there is FF14 or even WoW? I can't even sell stuff in og pso2 because they removed the already annoying to get shop pass. So many good decisions.
Alright so I see a lot of people still comparing current FFXIV & WoW to NGS launch when in both game launches they had barren content , NGS is bare bones, I will not go against this point as it is true, but the games you're comparing NGS to currently have a lot of extra content that they got through a decade & while I do not agree with the current Bugs happening all over I do not think comparing NGS to games that have been here for a long time is a good comparison, If anything FFXIV's launch was one if not the worst launch of an MMO, did they fix it? yes but it took time, currently people are just hungry with content because they have nothing left to play WoW is basically already dead the expansions and sub ain't worth the trouble anymore, Shadowlands was incredibly underwhelming and barren of content for a paid expansion & some of the good mounts or fashion sets are in store purchase only.
Now let's review FFXIV's Mogstation since I see you guys like to bring this up, $60 mounts , $30 for one fashion set , $20 ~ 40 for an emote, the sub is there but it does not give you those so exciting costumes you're looking for so at the end of the day you have to pay to get what you want & it ain't cheap at all, on top of that you have to purchase the whole expansion pack + base game which usually comes around at $60 last I checked with the SB expansion & while you may say "Oh but you get a free trial", yes and then you have to pay.
PSO2 & NGS do not force you to purchase premium, the game is absolutely F2P & people who want to support the devs & company cash in and that's fine, all I'm saying is give NGS a chance to walk and start getting better.
Also to whoever mentioned asmongold, please stop, the guy is in complete denial because WoW is dying and constantly gets controlled by his chat because he fears losing his fanbase when trying to play any other game, the guy has some of the blandest tastes in fashion & generally anyone who has a Steampunk look or Edgy shadow warrior wins their fashion shows, however I will agree that NGS lacks fashion but we are gonna be getting 2~3 scratches per month so that's something to look forward to.
TL;DR Let the game run for a Year & let's go back on this too see changes made, Sega recently during the past months has been listening to feedback.
The first week or two of a launch is extremely important, just like a job interview those first impressions are extremely important and NGS fails abysmally here, at best you have one days worth of playable content and at worse you have a turn based grindfest fighting the same group of mobs until you hit level 20, rinse and repeat, for purests who retort here and say..."well PSO2 at base launch had no content" Actually, at launch PSO2 base had more content, more gear, more areas, more quests, more story and added content faster.
It shows that you didn't play PSO2 on launch back in 2012 and barely got in the game recently if this is the take you wanna make, PSO2 had not only way less content at launch, but it had WAY slower updates than what we're currently getting, you're just stating a lie here to honey comb your argument but it shows that you're comparing NGS to Global pso2 launch instead of the JP launch.
There are a couple of threads with the not being able to start issue, I'm sure it won't be that long for that to be fixed as it seems some players can't launch the game, some might even not be able to launch the game cause they don't have AVX instructions.
On a side note I believe @Zeke Comes off a bit rushed into the topic but generally means no harm, please do not use this to invalidate his opinion and call him a wannabe mod as that does not help the discussion, but only serves as a fallacy.
