If you have a good game people will login for the game itself.
Limited time content is not needed and will always be a bad idea.
I think the people here have never played an mmo. Heck, they're saying to use google calendar, Ive never played a game in my life where the game dictates when I should do stuff. Imagine buying Skyrim and having access to a particular area only for 30min twice a day, and you're not getting that sweet loot because IT ONLY DROPS THERE. Triggers are too expensive, for something you do 1 time. Sure you can buy stuff - NOT YOU OFZENDE, GO BACK TO BED - but It kinda cheapens the experience . Then comes the social stuff. Apparently UQs are the only way people can socialize in a game. Teamspeak and ventrillo never happened, and before them people never communicated in EQ1 or DAOC.
IMO what makes it all much worse is the fact that gear progression is locked behind timed events AND most of the time you don't have a currency you can use to actually exchange the drops.
