RE: New player .need suggestion regarding mouse or controller use on pc.

Arguably keyboard+mouse is "better" because accessing things like chat shortcuts and your subpalette are much easier to do on the keyboard, as well as certain movement techs/aiming with OTS view. That said, I find keyboard controls to be pretty awkward and PSO2 is very clearly designed with controllers in mind, so playing with a controller feels very natural and comfortable. I've tried both and even as a Ranger main I can't stand keyboard+mouse for extended periods so its controllers for me!

If you're playing controller on PC tho, don't forget that you can still use your keyboard. It can be a bit awkward depending on your setup, but I find it's more practical to use keyboard for the majority of my subpalette (selecting a skill/item takes too long on controller so I just keep it over my main skills on one side and reach over to use items) and chat macros when needed. I'll also quickly swap to mouse for turret aiming, so I guess I kinda play hybrid keyboard+mouse+controller...? but uh, I might be a bit of an outlier, who knows lol.

Anyway, try out both and see what you like the most! If you have 12 thumb buttons then mouse might be easier for you anyway if you can sort out a good layout for yourself.

RE: Instinct will be hosting multi-ship community events

I think the intent behind OP's post is good if it's sincere, assuming OP is in a position to uphold their promises. They're going to need to work hard to fight that reputation, though, and it's very much going to be an uphill battle. Aiming to be the biggest, most "popular" alliance in any MMO means you're going to be dealing with far more bad apples than a smaller group would just based on sheer numbers.

On the other hand, I'm not really sure what you were expecting. Several members from Instinct very recently showed their asses in a massive thread here on the forums. You're not going to get a lot of serious replies until you actually fix your reputation, because right now I'm pretty sure most of the players here wouldn't want anything to do with an event run by Instinct. Actions speak louder than words. Saying "we're going to be better now" is easy, but it doesn't prove anything. You need to do more than make promises to fix the damage your members have caused.

Best of luck to the OP.

RE: Is there any actual progress on getting the various hacking tools to be banned?

@Viola-Lance said in Is there any actual progress on getting the various hacking tools to be banned?:

To give an idea/example of what for others who might be skeptical... Just watch the mini map.

https://youtu.be/CEC6xzKpgDU?t=52

Pretty sure I ran into someone using this hack on ship 1 mining base UQ tonight. I'm so used to taking up the left side of the map during the first couple waves I got completely thrown off when every single mob was spawning on the right side. "Mysteriously", the "glitch" disappeared after I called the hacker out on their bullshit, and wave 5 on went as normal.

What a piece of ARKS trash. If you're going to cheat, at least do it in a solo run where you're not dragging everyone down with you. Some of us actually like playing the game legitimately (and, you know, don't need to cheat to get an S rank, because we actually know what the hell we're doing).

RE: Advance Quest Etiquette - NEW PLAYERS PLEASE READ!

Had a run the other day where we got two nice PSE bursts, but because one guy was rushing through the whole thing we didn't even get to finish the second burst. Quest ended abruptly mid-burst when 3/4ths of the party had just entered the second part of the map, everyone booted back to gateship without any warning : (

If you want to rush through AQ for the rally event, that's cool honestly, sometimes you're in a rush and just want the buffs active for later. But say something so you're not screwing over the rest of the party that wanted to clear it properly.

RE: Mining Base: Despair Campaign

This is a really good post on how to make the most of your Mining Base runs. If you're struggling with getting S rank or don't know the UQ very well, give it a read.

Communication goes a long way, and same as it is with any new or difficult UQ, you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes to just stop and tell people what to do. Don't be rude or pushy about it, but sometimes people genuinely don't know about how certain parts of the run work or how to get S rank. It takes only a few seconds to say "rank is decided by base HP, please remember to heal the bases" at the start of the run. Some people are going to appreciate the info, and it's to everyone's benefit that everyone in the run knows what they need to do for S rank.

I've also taken to keeping an eye on base HP as I go, and if I see a base at <80% or so I'll shout in area chat something like "white base needs heals". Nearly every time I've done that it's followed by a rush of people running over to use their heals on the base. You can't always see each individual base's HP, so even if you know healing is important it can be handy to have someone pointing out which ones need heals the most at that moment.

Since upping my communicative game I've had nothing but S-rank scores in 4 super smooth runs in a row, all random pubs, so I'd say it pays off.
