@Zeke I didn't say it was failing though. I said you can't say it is failing.

@Zeke For Microsoft to have as much say as you say they do, like being able to affect the censorship as stated in your other post, they would need people on the dev team which seems unlikely as Sega doesn't seem to fully understand how Azure works, as they stated in a dev interview that they were still learning azure.
The most that they could possibly have is a contract in which Sega agreed to keep global open for a minimum amount of time before they can close the servers. If that is the case, there is really nothing keeping Sega from doing the absolute minimum in fulfilling their contract.
We shouldn't assume Sega is forced to put a certain amount of effort in and become complacent over it, because there is probably a loophole they can use to get away with less.
@DigresiveSin Technically, that is what they did. NGS is effectively a completely new game; issue is that they botched it in terms of content and management.
It would have probably been the same issues if they called it PSO3 instead of NGS. The problem is more deep rooted.
@Zeke @Berserk-Nevi I really doubt Microsoft has that much of a say since it is still the JP devs that is managing NGS. Unless they have some super long term contract that forces Sega to work on Global, I doubt Microsoft has that much say. And if Sega really is being forced to keep Global running, the question then becomes what is the minimal that they can do to fulfill their side of the contract.
@Anarchy-Marine If you compare Sega from when PSO1 was being developed to Sega today, I do feel like they lost quite a bit of passion. Back then, Sega had Isao Okawa who personally paid for 1 year of internet for all Dreamcasts. I feel like Sega has became a lot more profit focused, focusing a lot more on their profit margins than giving a quality product. Sometimes this can be made up with passion from the dev team, which is what I feel happens in some of Sega's other franchises like Yakuza, but that does not seem to be the case with NGS.
What I find stupid is that there are people here literally hoping the game closes down so it validates their own ego.
Some of you desperately want the game to fail and that's quite telling. Seriously is this all the forums are now? Barely any constructive criticism and all "hope game dies lel"?
I haven't really seen anyone that says they want the game to shutdown. Closest thing is when people say the game will shut down if it goes p2p in response to rain.
People can hate on Genshin and Mihoyo as much as they want; fact is, Genshin is probably one of the most popular games on the market right now and had plenty of content, even from day one.
My guess for this difference is passion from the higher ups. Apparently, the CEO of Mihoyo plays the game and even streams it. Can't really say the same for Sega and NGS.
Is it perfect, hell no. Artifact farming for example is asinine. However, it is still an overall better game than NGS at the moment with plenty more to do outside of dailies or loops.
I'll just say, Final Fantasy XIV is T on the ESRB, and PEGI-16, yet straight-up brothels are just fine by their TOS and they don't get in trouble with GMs.
Starting to see why Xbox users will never get a port of that game. It had zero to do with cross play, and everything to do with Microsoft. At least that's the way I'm leaning now.
It's always been due to Microsoft. People thinking otherwise are deluding themselves. It's one of the reasons that they'll never reverse it. Now that jp ip locked their games It's either deal with it or leave.
Do we have any definite proof that it is due to Microsoft or is it just a guess?
As for FFXIV, Yoshi P said this back in February:
"The sole factors are the workload and the order of steps. Now when it comes to the Xbox version, there’s unfortunately not much I can say presently but just that we cannot work on all the steps simultaneously and need to follow the order for proceeding with these things. Since we’re currently involved in the development of Endwalker and preparing the PS5 version to follow on from the title’s service on PS4, it’d be appreciated if we can return to touch upon the Xbox version once things have settled!"
Don't forget that FFXIV is also having the issue of overpopulation. If they added xbox now, gaining yet another influx of players, it would only serve to make that issue worse.
So between Endwalker, preparing for PS5, and literally suffering from success, it is pretty clear that erp is not why there is no xbox version yet.
People is strating moving to JP already, great... "GLOBAL is FINE" "GLOBAL won't get nuked" "SEGA stonks" uhu...

Steam isn't the only platform. Relying on that for the game's total population is laughable.
Can't call doomsday until we see the next quarterly report. That will solidify the revenue and player increase for better or worse.
Steam is NGS' most popular platform and serves as a microecosystem model of Global. We already know from an interview that PC outnumbers consoles, and Steam is the most popular platform out of the PC options.
So if Steam is bleeding players then it would only make sense other platforms are doing even worse. It isn't laughable to use it as proof of how badly NGS is losing players.
Sega really needs to hit the Winter update out of the park and really rethink on how they handle global.
@Prancing_Cat People have been on JP for a while. Though it got harder after NGS due to the IP block. JP has always been the better server.
@Zeke Well, I would hope at one point or another, Sega would realize that a unified service is just more ideal than separating Global and JP like it currently is. A unified service would require the height limit be removed as they can't really force on their JP players. If not in NGS, then maybe in PSO3 down the line.
@Nevyara I'd be wary. It looked like they were going to take Global seriously when it first launched in the west and with the 4th of July event, but here we are. Even if they do well with the next patch; best to keep them on thin ice and not become complacent.
Personally, if I am being perfectly honest, I am pretty jaded towards things after what has happened so far. Sega had PSO1 and PSU to learn this, yet they still made the same mistakes; granted not to the same degree, showing some growth, but still.
I hope to be wrong on this, but I am not sure if Global will ever not be the unfavored child compared to JP.
@XenoBladeX37645 Tbh, they probably don't take anyone on global seriously.
@Zeke As long as people are civil, they won't get banned. If being vocal about it got people banned, I should have been banned long ago.
The censorship thread in the suggestions section even got unlocked a couple months ago and is still kicking around.
