@Qruis It's not an odd translation choice since it's the most accurate, just different from what the fan patch chose. That's sort of how I feel with games I grew up on with incorrect translations too though. "Aerith" will never sound as right to me as "Aeris" lol
@Qruis It's true that it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. I'm just sort of confused why Masquerade is considered more accurate just because it's preferred by people who played the patch.
@Falz said in So how is everyone enjoying Masq?:
If we directly translated Japanese each time, we'd have what is PSO2 global translation in all medias. Masquerade makes the most sense.
I'm a big fan of localization, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Both the fan patch and global translate things literally and with localization. Neither is a very direct translation.
I haven't played the fan patch or gone against the boss yet so I'm likely missing some context, but @Laep is right that "Masquerader" is a correct translation of "γγΉγ«γ¬γΌγ". A "masquerade" is a masked ball or event, while a "masquerader" is someone attending a masquerade or wearing a mask in general. On the surface level, since we're talking about a boss, I assume we're talking about an individual and not an event.

I had a thought and I doubt it would have any impact whatsoever but I wanted your guyβs feedback.
Would removing the cm for the height slider make any difference? If you didnβt know how short that was, would it still give the same feelings of discomfort some people have?
If the height restrictions also applied to NPCs/aux, would that have any impact either?
I don't think it'd matter too much. It's a point for people to gripe on, but the characters would still be taller with or without a number.
The height restrictions are applied to auxiliaries as far as I know, but it's something that's consistently glossed over. The auxiliaries use the same character creator, but they're on a smaller scale. They're not actually shorter, they're scaled down. A good way of describing this is comparing yourself to a Barbie doll. She's not shorter than you, she's shrunken down to a different size where our 11.5" is her 5.8'.
@NotWhoUThink For sure. It also tends to create a loop where they don't make items or make bad items and use it to justify not making them at all. I hope we can at least get more with the updates for those asking.
@Milk Yeah, it's a ton of fun.
I think it's perfectly reasonable to vent about the lack of CAST parts. Sure they might sell less or be in less demand, but it still sucks to be treated unfairly. I don't see why they can't let up on the cute girls a bit to give everyone something.
I'm really thankful about how much the JP team cares about the Global audience. They keep doing really cool things for us like this event and I think it's wonderful.
