@Kos I understand what you're saying, but the point of Apprentice calling him [Loser] in this scene is precisely because Luther at this point is already possessed by Loser and she recognizes him as a Falz, which is why she also implies he's betraying them by consorting with ARKS, to which he says that he isn't and that both Falz and ARKS are merely pawns for his agenda. Luther has been possessed by Loser since before ARKS's conception; however, even though we have no specific date for it, we know he wasn't corrupted during the Photoner era and Xion makes a point of it in Ep2 to remind the PC that he was not always corrupted by a Falz and that he was 'human once too.'

However we've gotten off topic, and I believe we should agree to disagree. I still would like to see Loser's name reverted along with Double's.

As for the names themselves, I take it that they're written this way to work in what's going on with their JP names, where they're written in kanji but spoken differently. Elder's kanji basically means something along the lines of "huge body" so you get Elder the Gargantuan, Luther's can mean either "loser" or "defeated" so you get Luther the Fallen. Apprentice and Gemini are a bit weirder, Apprentice's kanji means something along the lines of "young person" and Vernal might seem strange, but looking into its definition it can be taken to mean youthful so it works out. Gemini's kanji however means "twins" which Duplicated doesn't quite fit and the first part of the name instead taking on that meaning, however the name makes more sense when you have the context of Episode 5.

Either ways, I don't think that's happening due to the voice recording already having happened and redoing it would cost them money they probably won't want to spend for something this minor.

They are not the same. In Ep3, Luther impresses upon the player and Matoi that the Falz can be molded into what the host's desires are, if the feelings are strong enough, because Photons are mutable and receptive to strong emotions. Remember that Elder only desired combat once it possesses Gettemhart. However, Luther does mention that, while possessed by Loser, he 'did not change,' because Luther is the original and ONLY host Loser has taken, therefore, there is little to muddle his feelings and the agenda he seeks to maintain. That being said, Loser originally should have worked to revive the Profound Darkness (as Luther again mentions in this scene) but because of Luther's strong emotions when succumbing to the Falz's influence, the original goal was thrown out in favour of Luther's desire to obtain omniscience.

There is further confirmation of this in Ep5 when Xiao and Xiera discuss the 'original personality' of Luther as they had met him in Omega and saw that he was starkly different from the Luther they knew in Oracle. They go even further to say Luther had BELIEVED he was in control of Loser's power, but it's asserted that wasn't the case, that he was Loser's puppet the entire time.

As well, there is an ENTIRE extra story arc dedicated to Yucreta and Aurora grappling with the issues of having people see them and only equate their faces to Apprentice, as they were each her host at a point. The game is always, always making a point of how the Falz =/= the host, even if people's feelings believe otherwise.

I know I'm getting off the tracks here, but I had to amend this.

Big surprise here that I'm throwing my hat in with this thread, haha, but I agree very much on reverting Luther's Falz name to his appropriate and canon moniker! While I absolutely do adore 'Luther the Fallen' in a vacuum, as it eludes to his inspiration being based off Lucifer (a fallen angel... Dark Falz Angel... ta-da!) it loses (pun unintended) the wonderfully deep connotations of his original moniker. There are things elaborated in Ep5 and Ep6 that further the meaning of the name 'Loser,' and only make it that much more impressive of Sega's forethought going into writing his character. As well, it illustrates that Luther is NOT Loser, which often gets lost on many doing the story. The host =/= the Falz.

He was always meant to be named Loser as a Falz, so I hope it will be reconsidered to revert his name back to the intended one.

Likewise, I have quarrel with Gemini for two reasons, 1) Idola: Phantasy Star Saga already has a figure named Gemini and 2) Loser and Double being the only ones renamed feels like another inconsistency error.

Re-configuring the SG model

Hello--and apologies if this is a dupe thread or if similar issues have already been brought up before!

PSO2NA's monetization model is something I and many other friends have had issues with, so much so that many have sworn off playing because it gates them from an aspect of the game that they loved to delve into on JP--fashion!

For those unaware, JP's servers do not have nearly as many cosmetics obtained via SG. The only cosmetics obtained via SG are done so through SG scratches, which operate the same as AC or FUN scratch, the only catch is that the items are not tradeable/marketable, though they can be traded in at the Recycle Shop (Swap Shop) for badges that can be used to obtain other goods. As well, there is the Treasure Shop, where things ranging from cosmetics to emotes to triggers can be purchased for SG and meseta, but the prices are far more lenient and they have never put entire costumes in the shop. This was presumably replaced by the Fresh Finds for NA.

It is my hope that the current model for SG is a temporary one until the NA servers sees itself entirely caught up with JP's volumes of cosmetics, because as it stands it's nigh impossible for any one person to obtain all, or at least a lot of the desired, cosmetics without digging their wallet out to purchase SG. Many items put in the Fresh Finds and Mission Pass's Gold tier were items that were part of an AC scratch, meaning those items were tradeable/marketable and anyone could obtain them so long as they had the meseta to do so.

And on the matter of the Mission Pass, I very much hope they consider adding two tickets so that a player may bind the accessory/hair/etc to their account--or make the ticket account bound to begin with. I'm immensely disappointed I can't have the head-mounted Luther on all my characters like I have him on JP!

It is my hope that the current model is temporary, as I said, but my hope does wane seeing the excessive use of SG 'sales' with cosmetics and emotes put into packs which may be called 'sales' but are releasing for the very first time. Many friends also theorize these sales will return, but we've yet to see any (especially ones debuted during the Xbox-only period) return at all. The lack of transparency on the SG model and other various monetization models in the NA server leave me and my friends feeling uneasy about re-obtaining items on the NA server (and whether or not things we have on JP will be readily accessible at all without pulling our wallets out) so I hope that its current model will be reconsidered and perhaps, shifted to fit JP's model more closely, if not adapted in its entirety.

RE: Removing Height Restrictions

I would like to throw my lot in with this as well, especially considering the 'minimum' height listed (150cm) is actually incorrect, too!

I transferred my character's data over to NA feeling confident she was fine (she's 152cm, like I am in real life!) but NA wouldn't take it, so the game itself is not being honest about what height you can/cannot import and makes it impossible to import a character actually above the threshold listed.

Please consider removing the restriction, it is dishonest and unfair to those whose actual heights have been deemed worthy of an absurd 'rating change.'

While 're-doing' the entire localization is not necessary by any means, I would like to throw my vote in for another comb through to spruce it up!

For an official release, it is very disappointing to see so many grammar errors and inconsistencies, and they are not that as few or in-between as people believe. It leads one to think that this was rushed out without a second thought to proofreading. It doesn't inspire much confidence in someone like me who was very excited to play the game to see all the unique/different translation approaches to everything--especially when flavour text has been axed almost entirely! Please reconsider that decision as well!

  1. 'Zonde You Learned Level 15'
  2. 'You don't have enough Your Money' (I just noticed this today trying to take a drink without enough meseta!)
  3. As someone linked before, Brigitta's dialog during Elder's UQ with a typo and an incorrectly transcribed line.
  4. A nitpick that I know a few of my friends along with myself have had: many things still not having spaces in names (particularly boss names) such as 'Vain HuskGwanada'
  5. Risa being called 'Risa' and 'Lisa' interchangeably.
  6. Synchro being called 'Synchro' and 'Shinkuro' interchangeably.
  7. A friend mentioned that his Auxiliary gave him mag food devices and that they curiously used the SEA translations ("Food Device Aptitude" & "Food Device Magic")
  8. Afin calls the player 'partner' as opposed to his ever-present 'mate' at points (partner is how the patch team translates his 'aibou').
  9. Inconsistent use of lower/upper case text for the game's terminology (a personal grievance, which isn't huge in the long run, but still!)
  10. Text boxes having awkward line breaks; sometimes a period has its own line break!

There are scaling issues as well with the UI, which is not exactly in line with the translation needing to be touched up, but it should be brought up I think. There was an e-trial with text so small I struggled to read it (unfortunately I can't remember which one off the top of my head) and there are many instances of text being cut off entirely. There's much and more to mention, but this gives a good idea, I believe. Thank you for reading and thank you for your work. I hope it will be considered and we'll see a fully polished PSO2 NA in the future!

Allow for ENG text to utilize the JP font

Hello, and congratulations on NA PC release!

As the title says, I would love to see the NA release allow for the use of the font that JP utilizes. For those who have swapped to using the JP text (or who have played on the JP version itself) you can see that it's a much bulkier, easier to read font in both JP and ENG.

Despite the size increase options for the NA-only ENG font, I know many people still have issues reading the text itself as it is very narrow and thin and coupled with some of the backgrounds the text is on, it makes it difficult for those who already have vision problems to read the text. Likewise, it's quite difficult for streamers who are doing story to show their viewers the text because of this.

I would love for there to be a toggle between the fonts in NA, so I hope it will be considered! Thank you.

@landman It is indeed important. As I said before, the point is that Xion and the Record are not one in the same and the Record exists separate from her. That Loser mentions the Record in his english lines during battle is indicative that the team didn't entirely discard it, so I'd just like to make sure such a core piece of lore isn't lost in translation.

@landman He only describes her as being omniscient and the misconception is that he believes her to BE the Akashic Record, it's in EP5 that Alma will explain later on the Record and Xion are not one in the same but that she is its keeper, more than anything. The Record is very vital to the story!

Hello! I had a concern that could hopefully get forwarded to someone in charge of the localization team.

I was watching a friend stream EP2 and during the point at which Luther is revealing what Xion 'is,' the Akashic Record is never once mentioned. The Akashic Record is the crux of PSO2's lore, it's why most if not everything is even set in motion for the story. Not to mention, it's the reason EP5 and Omega even exist. Was this a mistake? After all, in Loser's boss dialogue (in english), he name drops the Akashic Record but at that point the player has no clue what that is! I've heard from others that even by EP3, the Akashic Record has yet to be mentioned.

I know we're only in the Open Beta and we may be missing things, but I can't imagine core dialogue is missing from story right now. Please help me out! I'd hate to see new players get lost in the lore because of an error or slip-up in localization.
