Is it normal that the prices for a lot of things are super exorbitant

Most new players are on Ship 1 (because new game on west) since the beta.
Ship 2 is regarded as the JP Vets ship because they used it on the Japanese server.
It is all about player population there. More people, more meseta rollong around
