I translate and localize Japanese projects myself, so I'm aware of the process and what it entails. Sometimes things get cut or changed for a multitude of reasons. In my opinion, these cuts were made to serve a purpose and therefore should stay. As we're all able to access the cut content via youtube and other sources too, I think it's fair enough.
I will say that I'm not a fan of censorship either, but I think this is a special case which again serves a purpose.

I want an insta ban on anyone that uses the tag loli/shotacon in LB or in their character name, but we can't have everything.
I honestly agree with this sentiment. I've google-fu'd some of the names really adamant about keeping this sort of content and it's just about what you'd expect. Let's just say it's obvious why they want it restored.
Even in-game, people with those sort of names are most likely to have erotic auto-chats and pornographic SAs. It's enough of a problem that I think banning based on names might curb it a bit.
It's honestly pretty easy to tell which ones those are by just looking at the arguments made here in bad faith, or pretending that they have never heard of the issues that lead to all of this in the first place, instead making it out to be a kneejerk reaction 'by the west' and 'cancel culture', which are big enough dog whistles on their own. Then the false equivalency arguments like "geeze you must hate all of the skimpy outfits in the game too". The best is the "geeze, if you care so much about this maybe YOU'RE the pedophile", like that's supposed to make sense.
To be perfectly fair, the height slider change was just Sega being lazy as hell so they didn't have to commit to outright saying they were wrong in releasing much of the content they did nor the manpower to properly moderate the game to ban people that made lolicons/shotacons (let alone something that could handle the bots spamming lobbies or any training/leadership to more effectively combat the problem). To summarize, Sega wants to have their cake and eat it too.
