Can we not cut out anymore story scenes and stop it with censorship in general.

Which is my damn point.

Blood and guts (Let's assume Magatsu has exposed guts) are A-OK but some skin is OMG THINK OF THE FICTIONAL CHILDREN

@Frost-Soar It's not "some skin". Nude adult or age-ambiguous characters and outfits are OK. We're talking about nude or nearly nude child characters. Two who are sophomores in high school and one in elementary school (and mentally even younger tbh).

@Laep Forgot about that blood, since the wounds even in EP5 are purple. Then again, westerners (and from my view, mostly Americans) love their blood and guts in media. Their relationship with shows of skin and sexual content is a bit weird, though. In some media it seems to be well OK, but in video games it's simply Taboo.

@Laep I have taken a stance of not using my main account to post anything online. I'll give episode 5, it seems to be mostly without changes and I forgot the blood.

@ApollosAmour These are fictional characters, they have no legal age. You are projecting your own morals on to others and endorsing censorship for no reason. Even if I would personally find some of the stuff a bit distasteful, I would still want it to be in if its like that in the original version instead of it being changed.

My main gripes are with the hight limit and changes to text like Slave to Raven, Master to Handler, Blacklist to PSO2 Blocklist and the translation being just being awful while they waste time on changing words that were correct to begin with.

@SternalVessel61 I think it's wasted wording to try and convince those who got into their minds that people wanting to unlock the bath scene are into real life pedophilia that it's not always true. It was tried before, it ended many threads, and many people got really hurt. I mean, even I was branded as such just for wanting the height censor removed. So better to let them have their last word. It has killed nobody so far anyway, and the Japanese haven't been arrested and tossed into asylums or prison for all the actually and intentionally lewd little girl content they have released and is now floating freely over YT (or for money over Crunchy and Funi) for all the world to see. So yeah, better just give the stuff a permanent rest because it's not a winnable nor worthy battle.

@ApollosAmour And the scene they are in can not even be considered risque. So many other media that are released in the west go way further. Senran Kagura is a thing for crying out loud; yes, it does have a loli character and many of its characters are under 18.

@SternalVessel61 That doesn't change anything. Shota/loli porn is fictional, yet people get thrown in jail for possessing it all of the time. I'm not saying anything in PSO2 is pornographic (aside from symbol arts), but depiction/implication is enough to cause concern. Hence, no kids in various states of undress.

I'll keep saying it, but it's localization. If Sega realizes something wouldn't fly very well with their target audience, they're likely to change it so that it does. As for projection, I would argue the opposite that people resisting the localization are projecting their needs onto the entire market, which is why we have a majority who doesn't care about the changes and a minority that treats it as a matter of life and death.

I can understand where you're coming from with the words being changed (even though I think they have merit), but I think you guys are really off-base by saying the translation is awful without any proof to back it up. From what I know of the Arks-Layer translation, it has a lot of flubs and changes of its own. Neither is perfect, but just because one translation came out first, doesn't mean that it's automatically perfect or 1:1 (which is pretty impossible anyway). Until someone can provide all three scripts and give general points on them, the criticism is baseless.

Except you dont get thrown to jail for any of that.

SoA doen't know anything.

Nobody said the Arks-Layer translation was perfect, it just happens to have a lot less typos, translated flavour texts, no arbitrary word changing like Slave to Raven.

You can easily see how little SoA cares about the translation when something like Qliphard which is a reference to tree of qliphod is now Cliffard.

@SternalVessel61 For loli/shota? Yes people do. It's a bit of a gray area with how it works out from case to case, but it does happen. It's something that's clearly stigmatized in multiple countries, so I imagine it's easier for Sega to cut that content with their global audience in mind rather than find a way to keep it. Clearly some people are upset by that decision, but it's worked out overall.

Are you sure about that? I say this with the utmost respect for both translation teams, but the Arks-Layer script gets names incorrect as well, which are correct in Global. There's a lot of back and forth like that between both scripts. It's easy to mistranslate certain terms when the translator lacks the proper context or materials. And as upset as you may be about Slave to Raven, both scripts localize EP3 bearing an international audience in mind. Neither refer to Harukotan's populace as "blacks/black people" and "whites/white people" like the original script does. It's not a frivolous change on either side, nor one motivated by radical politics, but (wait for it)... localization.

My point still stands that you guys have no leg to stand on criticizing the translation like that when you don't understand what was changed or why outside of comparing two translations together. Of course there is cut text, revised words, and several typos, but any criticism of the script beyond that so far has no real weight to it.

@ApollosAmour You're once again proving the point that localization should not be a thing and they should only translate the game as 1 to 1 as possible. Don't advertise all the content if you're going to cut content or censor content.

Yes, I said that the Arks-layer translation wasnt perfect, it still is better in most cases than the official one.

And you saying that we can't critisize text? Yeah, we can critisize the text all we want and it wont make us any less wrong about it.

Just to get a better feel of the room: For those who see nothing wrong with the cutscene where Kohri encourages Al through inaction to "[have] new sensory experiences" with her by letting him (a child character) continue to fondle her breasts, after she talked about rolling around in his sweat and talked about wanting Al to see her in a state of undress in the baths, do you also think there's nothing wrong with child grooming?

It's one thing to just not really give a shit about the cutscene, but the level at which some people here are pushing for the cutscene and saying there's nothing wrong with it really activates the almonds. I'm just asking for honesty here.

Fiction VS Reality people, learn the difference, you're blurring the lines too much and that's the real worrying part about all of this.

you kill people in video games? does that mean You kill people in real life? Gasp

I'm sure you know the difference there, so then where do your politics stand on this 'injustice'? it's just a game though, right? so what is the difference, is murder more acceptable? where do we draw the line with this mentality?

Personally, a cutscene like that is pure satire at best, if people see it any other way then they probably should avoid such games for fear they might be reading into them a little too much, no?

That's just my hot take however.

@SternalVessel61 You're free to criticize it, but you don't have any point. It's just venting.

I mean I'm not going to criticize NASA on their ability to handle a space launch when I'm just going to sound ignorant doing it.

@Praxithea-Von For me, it's always been more about the extreme devotion people have toward the specific content. There's people I've seen post here that I know are more upset about any content being cut and I know they mean well. But the people whose focus is entirely on the height slider and the EP4 content? And they're having meltdowns over it? It's a little too obvious to everyone what's going on at that point.
