Can we not cut out anymore story scenes and stop it with censorship in general.

The customer service kindly answered me. They know the problem, they know that many are complaining. They have assured that they will forward the problem to the developers for review. However, they cannot promise that the problem will be fixed anytime soon.

At least we now know that on this side they are aware of the problem, but I didn't think there was this gap between the global service and the developers. Hopefully it won't be long until the developers understand the problem as well.

One thing is clear, just discussing on the forum is not very useful, you have to contact them directly through customer service, and all the other methods that come to mind. We must cooperate to save the game. This is possible, so let's never give up.

After 8 years, we didn't deserve this treatment, we have to save the game! At the very least, I love PSO2 so much, I have to save it at any cost and I'll do my best.

@chrnodroid Hi, I want to contact the customer support to ask about the removal of the height restriction, where exactly should I do it? I mean, on this forum, what should I click to contact them directly?

@chrnodroid Do note that the suggestions forums are one of the avenues that they use to gauge feedback. GM's have confirmed this. So it is usually a good idea to both post on the forums and send a support ticket on the issue. I've already sent a support ticket around the time Episode 4 was released.

It is worth noting that the Support Team are not Sega employees. Rather they are contracted by Sega to compile and translate feedback from the global servers into Japanese and forward it to Sega of Japan. So yes, there will likely be a delay in Sega of Japan getting feedback, before it goes through the corporate hoops and loops.

@Michelle For sending a Customer Support Ticket use the Support Button on the top navigation bar and select Contact Us on the drop down. A more detailed guide can be found here:

I also just updated the original post with this information as well.

@Archetype-Luna Oh! Thank you! 😊

I don't understand all the FFXIV comparisons @SleeprunnerInc said in Can we not cut out anymore story scenes and stop it with censorship in general.:

It's rumored that NGS is going to work the same way as FFXIV

It works for FFXIV because localization team plays super safe, if for example massive armies have a big fight or the big dragon burninates the peasants, it all is shoved offscreen and told through text bubbles, it's all very kid friendly, even their in-game casino is all slapstick comedy.

I don't see a single version NGS, I'm near 100% certain Japanese will have their uncensored PC standalone/PS4 version, global will have their censored steam/MS store/Xbox version.

@havox4 In regards to big battles, they did have the ARR cinematic. I think the issue with showing it in game is more of a technical limitation rather them playing it safe. It is also worth noting the difference between aiming for a T rated game and an M rated game.

PSO2 can go through with uncensored without any issues; the feedback here is meant to tell that it is safe for them to do so; that they shouldn't worry about western cancel culture.

Plus there are a number of other benefits of a unified service and keeping a singular version when it comes to management.

@Archetype-Luna said in Can we not cut out anymore story scenes and stop it with censorship in general.:

they would be saving money by not having to censor things

Let me remind you we currently live in a world where Tracer in Overwatch having a slightly suggestive pose during the BETA was met with outcry from an extremely vocal minority that demanded it was changed because it was too sexy for her character.

I do want you to imagine, just imagine, what would've happened when this very vocal minority, that keeps getting far more traction than it should, were to see PSO2 has a scene with half-naked underage characters groping each other or extremely small, childish-looking characters being made by players who will them put them in skimpy clothing like Soaring Silks and on banana boats with extremely suggestive poses.

The backlash Netflix is getting with Cuties would likely be eclipsed by the outcry against PSO2. Even if you feel limited and give every excuse possible as to why you dislike it, they did the right thing by simply removing it and locking the height floor to prevent any problem. You have continued this for a long time and not even the mods here have wanted to answer, you need to understand what this means.

@Archetype-Luna said in Can we not cut out anymore story scenes and stop it with censorship in general.:

the feedback here is meant to tell that it is safe for them to do so

The feedback here is that YOU are telling them it's safe FOR YOU. You don't speak for anyone else, nor do the people that agree with you. They decided to avoid much bigger problems by doing this, they will not budge simply because a few people on the forum say it's fine when it's clear a good part of the western world would've seen it as wrong in the current climate.

When i and others spoke about the region lock, it's because it was a literal mistake, not because it was done to appease someone [and it's not funny done, we can play and buy currencies, but we can't buy the Hero and Heroine packs because apparently they have their own separate region lock?]

@Ephemiel Oh ye I remember that Tracer debacle.

The same people who claimed it was too sexy then later came back to hype and promote her sexuality everywhere.

The only reason that vocal minority gets traction is because these big companies cave into this shit. History has shown that nothing good ever comes from caving in and these people usually aren't the target audience anyway. They're just there to spark outrage. It's never going to be enough for these people and by listening to them you're basically sending out the message that it's just that easy to get things canceled. The tracer debacle is just one of many examples. Censoring shit or changing for these people who are a tiny minority just to appease them is beyond stupid.

Best course of action has always been to ignore these chumps and let them whine away until something else gets their attention. The fans will have their backs and in the end nothing will happen. These people only have power if you give it to them.

@Ephemiel And I believe that Blizzard caving into that outcry was a mistake and completely unnecessary. Any outcry that occurs from removing the censorship will do nothing to PSO2, absolutely nothing. If anything, it will basically be free advertisement. You can already make child-like characters and put them in suggestive poses in PSO2.

Other companies have back tracked on their censorship, look at Tera and how they back tracked the Elin censorship. Other games like Senran Kagura get by without any issue. There are multiple races in FFXIV that allow for heights shorter than the current minimum in PSO2 and you can dress them in all sorts of skimpy clothing and there are emotes that can put you in suggestive positions.

The outcry can safely be ignored; if anything it can act as free advertisement for the game. Uzaki, the current target of Western Cancel Culture, actually became more popular because of it. There was similar outcry for Rising of the Shield Hero; it still got simulcasted and was a huge hit during the season it aired. If anything, Shield Hero became more well known because of the outcry. There'll likely be outcry for Mushoku Tensei when that airs next year, it'll still be simulcasted, and the outcry will only serve as free advertisement. The censorship isn't needed and companies do not need to cave into cancel culture. It is completely safe for Sega to not have the censorship in this game.

That outcry on Cuties is also rather hypocritical considering how one of the things the film discusses and brings to attention is the sexualization of pre-adolescent girls. The people who are outraged by the sexualization of minors should be advocating for the film as the film criticizes that sort of behavior.

You want to know what else cancel culture is targeting? Imano and Mirai Kimino, mascot characters for the Cool Choice movement in Japan which seeks to educate people on the matters of climate change and global warming. The reason? The mascot characters are High School anime girls. That's it; no skimpy clothing, no sexualization, nothing that would make someone raise an eyebrow. Should large corporations really cave into things like this?

There is no need to heed any outcry that would occur from removing the censorship. It won't harm the game.

I thought the Uzaki controversy was because of what she was being used to promote and how she was being used for it.

Source: https://unseenjapan.com/japanese-red-cross-uzaki-chan-poster/

Also I thought the characters for climate change were causing controversy was due to similar reasons?

edit: Nah, its gotta be cancel culture. People are too fragile to handle sexy teens being used to sell people on donating blood/the dangers of climate change.

@IAMCRAIG-0 The Red Cross Promotion was the original controversy that happened a while back and died down shortly afterwards. Then suddenly, when Uzaki gets an anime, cancel culture had a field day on Twitter.

As for Imano and Mirai, if you actually look at the content that they are officially used (they were designed to be mascot characters for this movement): https://ondankataisaku.env.go.jp/coolchoice/character/release/

Like how people have an issue with that, I cannot understand. They can be rather nonsensical, and, at times, they appear to be purely for the sake of garnering attention. Take the outcry with Cuties, a film that is meant to criticize the sexualization of minors in internet culture. The people parading against the film should be supporting it when you actually consider the message of the film.

This is why I do not believe that companies like Sega should pay any heed towards these types of outcries. Why they can safely remove the censorship without any worry.

No, the scenes removed in ep4 honestly were just gross and pandered towards the otaku subculture in japan that more than happily shelled out hundreds of dollars, despite being the minority.

There was nothing lost in regards to the scene with Kohri talking about wanting to mix her sweat with Al's. The same goes double for the bath scene (underaged characters depicted bathing with sexual jokes and innuendo). Calling this censorship compared to real world events that aren't being covered or reported on from a bias/intentionally misleading point of view is horrible, especially considering how many people here seem so very passionate about being anti-censorship.

I'd like to believe my words would have any kind of an effect on the posters in here, but the fact is you all have dug your heels in so deeply to the point that you actively delude yourselves into thinking your point of view is the majority, like the poll someone held on whether 'censorship' should be stopped for this game and subsequently said it was compromised when a third of the votes were for/didn't care about the censoring. All I ask is for all of you to take a step back and think about why you really want these scenes put back in and for ones similar in nature to not be removed.

Nice thinly veiled insult there.🤡 Why don't you just go ahead and say what you really want to call those people that just want the game as 1:1 as possible with Japan.

"Can we not cut out anymore story scenes and stop it with censorship in general."

the answer is in the threads title already...you only have to read it and know the answer - it does not matter if you think "the scene is important or not" for you - the question is do we want a censorship in general - the answer is clearly no since this game is already 16+ in germany and equal or higher than that in other countries - before more content is being censored here or possibly in NG the party who is anti censorship has to share their opinions and feelings about this - you have no right to belittle ones opinion by compressing it into a single scene and tell others to think again - at least not on this forum

those who never bothered to even read the thread title or the original post to it and try to mock on peoples voice "I'd like to believe my words would have any kind of an effect on the posters in here, but the fact is you all have dug your heels in so deeply to the point that you actively delude yourselves into thinking your point of view is the majority" should take a step back instead and think about why they have previously been banned
