am i supose to wait longer?

@NeonStarBerry Well, what's your region? And depending upon the answer, it may be yes.

That sucks hope they change that. Steam version has been great so far. Not even odd freezes when I save options in game anymore.

Certain regions/countries cannot play this game due to gambling laws (i.e. Belgium & The Netherlands) and Steam is blocking this depending on the region.

I would say stick to the US Windows store if you want to play, and if you have problems starting the game use the PSO2-Tweaker.

Belgium having a law against it is true, however the Netherlands never proclaimed anyting about it. And if that truely is the reason why they don't release here (NL) that very weird, because that would mean a lot of games (not just free to play with cash shop ones) would be illegal, but are still perfectly accesable. (To just name a very recent example SAO :A Lycoris.)

And for heavens sake, loot boxes/scratch tickets aren't the only way to set up a cash shop. I for one rather want to know what I buy before I decide throwing real money at it.

There is no reason why they should keep cash shop content the same when it was created way back when the JPN server started. Yes it's probably easier that way, but if times change and you start risking running into the law maybe it's time to reflect on certain things. And it's not just the law, im sure there are a lot of players fed up with random rewards/buys too, which you might chase away or atleast decourage to use the cash shop at all, which means you don't get income at all from them.

If they refine their methods rather than just ignoring service to the half the world that just doesn't match their tastes, they can get more players to play. PSO 2 is not a obscure F2P title, there are probably a lot of people who want to play it just on it's reputation alone, especially when the game is in English now. If 10 players spend 10 bucks in the cash shop, they have a more sustainable model as with 2 people spending 50 bucks. If 1 ragequits for one reason or the other in the second situation described before it's much more of a loss of income.

Even if they removed the free to play part and start asking like 60 bucks for it, I probably would pay for the game to play, especially with remake announced to refresh the by now rather old game engine. And they wouldn't even need a apparently shady cash shop for that. Gambling ins't the only buissiness model they can use for a game server, far from it.

Just take a look at GW2. Yes they have a F2P core game, but you still have to pay for expansions though. One time buy, no montly fees. In my eyes a very nice thing as it allows people to try the game out for free to see if they like it on the oldest content. They have a cash shop though, but you can only buy cosmetic direcly in it (no lootbox/tickets) but they also have stuff like acces to older episodes of the living world they have going over there, and boosters like exp/craft exp and stuff like that. All of it you can pick what you want to buy and whats the harm in that?

The episodic nature of PSO2 allows for a very similair model. Have older contents free to play, ask a one time price for newer content. If people like the game, the chance is way bigger they actually pay up that way (as long as the price is reasonable) compred to just waste their cash on a another shady gacha season one after the other.

Enough with spreading this lie, you heard some random dude saying this and now people keep spreading misinformation.

There's regions and countries being locked that have zero laws against gambling and can play the game through Windows or Xbox anyway, it has to do with the countries themselves and how Steam considers some of them to be separate.

To say it in not so aggressive words, while yes, it's implied some regions won't ever see the Steam version due to laws and such, not all of them were blocked because of that. The one fact here is, Sega hasn't really said why some regions are blocked and why others (even some neighboring countries) are fully allowed to play.

I was hoping to switch to steam because windows sucks and I have so many problems with it. And I'm assuming the player base because of the steam won't be that high because of the region block or it cross plays with x box & windows. if the casino part of the game is the problem they need to replace it with a PVP Arena or a Carnival Event to solve that problem. Also I never really liked the casino part it didn't really fit with the game and it's always empty or has very few people in it when I go there sometimes and I'm not sure if anyone even plays it. And as for what region I'm in its Egypt.

haha funny

EA had to remove their real money currency from their game in Belgium and a couple other places due to their laws. "Gaming giant EA is removing FIFA Points, a form of virtual currency for the franchise's lucrative Ultimate Team mode, across all titles from the franchise in Belgium following the country's crackdown on loot boxes. In a blog post, EA said it came to the decision to remove FIFA Points following "discussions with the Belgian authorities." https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-removing-fifa-points-in-belgium-after-loot-box-/1100-6464675/#:~:text=Gaming giant EA is removing, country's crackdown on loot boxes

I mean the fact that all the countries region locked are locked because of the laws. Puerto Rico has no laws like that since we're part of the U.S and we're locked too.

Just add the game and download it on steam with a VPN after that you dont need to use vpn anymore (Netherlands)

any news about new regions to be available in the future?
