any one lost interest in pso2 since they announced pso2 next gen?

I cant really get into anymore since they said it be coming out next year just see no point into keep playing this till it comes out. In a way i'm bit mad because we waited for long arse time for them to release this game and now it's over for me

With or without the NA release, it was gonna happen... PSO2 has been around for eight years and the engine is reaching its limit.

That said, PSO2 isn't over... since the narrative keeps on being that the NGS announcement screws over the NA version lets look at it from the perspective of Japanese players. Following NGS announcement a new class is releasing several months later, the devs had made clear they wanted to tweak some things like the Challenge Mode and Casino and PSO2 would get a graphical overhaul when NGS releases. PSO2 is far from dead...

The interconnectivity between the two is also something to account for. Players who've played legacy PSO2 would essentially benefit more than players who're waiting as though your progression doesn't carry; your character, weapons, mags and cosmetics would transfer over to NGS.

..what? This is a video game sir not a mistress.

I enjoy the stories that the games in the series have to offer. No, to answer the question of the post. (for me anyway)

@ozzymarkk Still invested. Just waiting for episode 4 to drop at current. Mostly been doing daily missions, and completing the one off character orders. Trying to collect all of the Arks summonable characters personal cards. This game has plenty of life left in it. And if the second PC release, on steam, isn't a bust, there will be plenty of new players joining. That should help liven things up.

A someone invested in the lore, I would not be able to lose interest until I have seen the story through to the end. New Genesis will likely be a direct result of the actions taken at the end.

If the "registered character data carries over" means basewear/innerwear/accs/hair will carry over into NG, it's still worth it to play for me just to accumulate that stuff. The only thing I hope they reconsider would be outfits as there are a lot that I'd like to use in NG as well. As far as mags/weps/boosters and whatnot go, I could careless if I see any of that stuff again once I make the jump over.

Also, as mentioned, if it takes anything from the lore, even if it's just name drops, that's another bonus to keep playing for me.

Seriously? To the OP, Why in the world would you even dare ask such a ridiculous question? Obviously you have a very short attention span.To be upset at the fact after they are 'Releasing"' "NEW CONTENT" and Major updates to the Game.. And you are upset? WTH!?

OH.. BTW, since your Forum name does state Ozzymark, that would imply that you are.. OLD. Well, just saying, I mean any "YOUNG" person would be delighted at such news on the other hand, someone who is ..Ancient*,Old, Stuffy..*, has that mindset.

Nope that makes absolutely no sense.

This there ^

Can't imagine loosing interest in something that I personally enjoy over something cause of a new release, no matter the medium.

Hmm. Yeah nope. I still bust out old games to play, despite newer versions being released in the near/late future.

Yes, I still player ES.5: Skyrim knowing that ES.6: Redguard is coming sometime in my life time... why? cause I enjoy it. I still play OW (Overwatch) knowing that OW2 is coming... why? cause I enjoy it.

I still play plenty of old games on my original NES cause they are that entertaining.

So and and so forth... Same goes it television/anime, movies, books and comics/manga.

If something is that entertaining and fun for you, the obvious replay/rewatch/reread value will out weigh the flimsy argument of "well, they releasing new stuff, so I'll just stop and give up now."

It made me want to play Phantasy Star Online 2 more and older Phantasy Star games instead.

It's not like we have an entire year before NGS comes out and we'll be getting ALL of the content JP has in.....around 5 MONTHS.

Literal YEARS worth of content is going to be added over 5 months, we literally get new stuff every 2 weeks, Ep 4 is just 2 days away and you think anyone with half a brain is going to lose interest because of NGS's announcement?

You know what? Just leave. Everyone that truly has this mentality should just leave rather than continue to scream here or in reddit.

Yup absolutely agree with you. I don't know why all these people have such rage over people feeling as you and I do. I played for years on JPN, was excited that it was finally coming to NA and I could play with new friends. Already have hundreds of hours logged in NA, but now will likely not play at all until NG comes out. Many others that I play with feel the same (all varying ages from teens to 30 year olds, since some idiot brought up only old people dislike this). If all of our character development isn't going to transfer it feels pretty shitty replaying what I have already extensively on JPN again. So I will hold off until NG comes out and see if I enjoy it more. If I don't then I may play PSO2 base again at that point. But I now have zero motivation to play currently juse to invest time into it, and dump it all going to the new game.

Others can be happy with this, that's totally their opinon, but some of these people replying to you are pretty pathetic for you simply stating how you feel, and not acknowledging that others can enjoy or dislike aspects of it all. I would have much preferred a straight expansion/update instead of splitting into 2 games. We already have a split playerbase between JPN and NA, and NG will split the playerbase further. Some of don't have time to invest into 2 very grindy MMO's, I sure don't like the idea of bouncing between time spent on 2 separate games where my characters aren't going to fully synch up.

Again, others can be super excited for this, great for them. I am excited for NG in of itself, but my time and money won't be going to PSO2 in the meantime any more. Some of you are pretty sad people with your replies lol....

Because it's beyond stupid to feel like that.

Do you feel you shouldn't play WoW because Shadowlands is coming? Do you feel you shouldn't play a game because you know a sequel is coming?

People are getting rather defensive, though it's predictable that they might.

"Old" PSO2 is going the way of other "classic" servers for other games like WoW classic or FFXI.

Sure, people will keep playing there. The game may even still get a lot of updates...

But NG is gonna be the hotness. The massive majority of folks are gonna be in the new hotness. Simple as that. If you're a Legacy PSO2 hype-man then best to start building the right alliance for you, so that come NG, your community isn't straight dead.

There's probably a lot of folks out there like me, who once NG drops, I'll be dropping old PSO2 like a rock and never looking back.

Let's not forget that they actually confirmed PSO2 will not only still be a thing, but they're giving it the engine update too, so it's quite clear Sega won't drop support for it.
