NEW GENESIS TAKES PLACE 1000 YEARS AFTER THE EVENTS OF PSO2 & What the hell is the plot going to be?

Does that mean ARKS operatives are going to be time traveling back and forth from the future or are we playing our descendants or something?

Since CASTs are technically immortal does that mean we survived after 1000 years?

Just what the hell is the plot going to be lol? And will our PCs be able to run it lol....

My Speculation : Without too many spoilers there is time travel in PSO2, and in a way, Dimension hopping too .. so they could very easily do this for the crossover between two games.

There's also stasis / cryofreezing as seen in PSO2. So there's a number of explanations as to how our characters transfer over, assuming they are suppose to be our original characters within the story.

@Snow Definately leaning towards time travel.

I'm also thinking it's back into freezer with Matoi, to be pulled out when the next Villain of the Week pops out to destroy ARKS/world and you the MC are the only competent person on ARKS fleet getting things done.

@havox4 Yeah, but hopping back and fourth between old and new, sounds more like a cool way to tell a future time travel, paradox type story. Getting frozen has already been done. It would also line up with both games running side by side.

Totally forgot about that one but since we can go back and forth, it means time travel is more likely.

Okay I got it.

So like what happened in Episode 4 where new players get to choose to start on episode 4 as a character with amnesia from cryosleep, so that they can skip episodes 1-3, since players who completed episodes 1-3 will basically be waking up from cryosleep too.

They might do something similar for NG where new players who start in NG get a different introduction than plays coming over from PSO2. Maybe players coming over from PSO2 are waking up from a thousand year old cryosleep on the Mothership after some event that has not happened in PSO2 yet cause the story in PSO2 is not over yet. They will likely continue the story in PSO2 for as long as they can to show how universe became the way it is in New Genesis or at least keep it going for as long as they can.

Ancient Arks members are discovered in their cryopods by new members of Arks and they get brought back but do not remember a thing, so they work together with the new Arks and try to figure out what happened and what this new enemy they are dealing with is as they uncover ancient history of their past.

This means we are not really going back and forth. Once our character time skips we will not remember what happened that put us into cryosleep for that long cause it has not happened yet in PSO2. PSO2 will likely continue to the point where some hints of the origins of the Dolls is revealed but afterwards the content will be focused entirely on New Genesis. I think this is a brilliant plan to revive both games, especially if they add in something like; New players starting out from New Genesis can travel to the past and play PSO2 and relive those events through a different perspective or something like that.

Get in the tube, Matoi.

She will probably wake up before we do.....or worse. We meet her descendant or we are her descendants. o -o

That's sounding DANGEROUSLY close to the story of Xenoblade Chronicles X... and that story SUCKED.

Sounds closer to Warframe's story than Xenoblade.

Doesn't PSU take place 1k years after pso2?

PSU is not related to PSO2 (but it is arguably related to PSO).

It's not in terms of canon, the rare missions and Falz Memoria were just a gimmick. My head-canon though? The ancient civilization in Gurhal fought and sealed Dark Falz inside the Sealed Ark Crowley and sent it adrift in space where it crashed into Ragol, Falz corrupting the guardian Stateria inside, thus giving rise to the Ruins area. Evidence: The mission/area in question starts in the Falz Memoria and sends you back to the Colony. Also the description: "During an investigation of Falz Memoria, the memories of Dark Falz opened a new distortion which takes place on a space ship that seems to have been created around the same time as Rykros." The area is confirmed as a memory, a spaceship, which is what the Ruins actually were, and ends with you fighting PSU Falz starting in form 2. Also the SEED is somewhat similar to the GERM.

But again, it's just head canon. In terms of actual lore, totally separate. Phantasy Star ZERO on the other hand IS connected.
