SG Tickets are now official. Thoughts?

@JuggernautGTX on the JP server, SG wasn't introduced until episode 4, and that was on their mid 4th year

could you imagine, a free to play game sustaining itself for 4 years and a half without having a second cooler premium currency with account bound gacha items?

when it was introduced it also caused controversy within the japanese community, so sega changed it from cooler premium currency to the much needed incentive to play side content

so now we are complaining to achieve the same the japanese players did back in the day

My dude, $300 For cosmetics on one loot box line is... ... are you sure your okay there?

I have a lot of disposable income and I am single so really isn't too much money to me and if I like a game I have no problem with supporting it. I would like the devs to continue making content for the game rather than it get shut down cause they are not making enough money on the game. I actually not spent any money on any pulls so far up until the SG scratch because it was required if you wanted stuff from it and have bought nothing but premium because all the stuff so far has been AC which can be bought with messeta.

Sure I would like them to be AC so I don't have to spend real money but every once in a while spending money on a game you enjoy is ok.

@psoslash

I like your reply - makes sense.

In one of the SG threads i already replied this: Making "SG Ticket" just another "FUN ticket" does not feel as rewarding as it should. It feels great to have an ingame currency that is not as easily obtainable as FUN Points - with fashion bound to it.

I enjoy the feeling of earning some "rare recource" and being rewarded with cool outfits or emotes at the end of the day. Its like as if they throw out 15* Weapons on day 1 of their release....you wouldn have the "nice find" kinda feeling if it was that easy to get

Huh, I said the exact same things psoslash did. Only with more detail and math.

Anyway what we are asking for is not being handed the currency, but for more ways to earn it. Casino SG, PvP, and so on. None of which we have right now. SG still is nowhere near as easily obtainable as FUN on the JP servers. You still have your weekly limits on most of the sources. The current state of our SG system is basically the initial version that caused a backlash; only it is being even more aggressive due to the diluted item pool, less time on the scratch ticket, and the addition of another sink via the Fresh Find shop.

Yea... it's that "earning" part that have people up in arms. There is nearly no way to earn it right now so people are saying the timing of this SG scratch is off. The people that are doing the scratch now are spending money, not from earned SG.

@HarmlessSyan

Who knows what the august update will bring

To note a solution i could live with:

You could add ways of earning more (like in jp) but not the 1:1 amount of jp because that would kill the purpose of it "super rare and special if i earn enough of it to get cool SG scratch" kinda feeling - or maybe set a limit of earned SG per week wich would fix the SG fashion hording thing (cap that at 200 SG per account per week) and even rewards you for playing the game over a long time compared to people who take long breaks - things like weekly ranking should feel more rewarding in terms of SG compared to other ways to earn it - so there should be a good balance

@JuggernautGTX all ways to earn sg in the JP server are limited per week

the big problem here is that at least for now, the NA staff have been showing little to no interest to make SG something you can earn, so until they announce otherwise we are kinda ignored here on this

that and the short span for the "2 scratches in one" makes really hard pulling that prize one aims for, specially if we have so few SG to spend on the first place

trust me, on the JP server, SG items doesn't feels like you didn't earned it

I don't have much to say outside of the points many have already made in this thread, but I will say that the handling of this, or lack thereof, so far has honestly shaken my confidence in the longevity of at least the NA version of this game, and has me feeling hesitant on continuing to spend on things like scratches. I just don't know if I want to keep spending on a game that at least seems to be driving players away without a relatively quick and transparent fix for the problem.

I've really liked this game so far, and I really don't want it to go the way of Maplestory 2. And granted, while maple 2 had different issues, one thing I do remember that drove most everyone I knew who played it away was regional differences and a lack of fixes for the community concerns with them.

@JuggernautGTX Why shouldn't it be 1:1 the amount of JP. SG shouldn't be this super exclusive currency. Why does NA have to have less SG than JP when we get the content that is suppose to grant us SG? We should get less SG from the same content. We should get the same SG income as JP, no more no less.

SG shouldn't be some super special currency that is incredibly difficult to earn. It isn't suppose to mark you as special. Not when it is purchasable. It should be an incentive for doing side content.

"Hot wheels urgent quest" It took me a moment to realize what you were talking about. Well played.

@Archetype-Luna we would need the mobile games localized in order to do that

i don't see idola competing with FGO around here, specially not with pso2 locked to NA on microsoft store, not to mention the troubles of getting it to work

@psoslash Then a substitute source of SG can work. Also, one thing to note is that they did announce that PSO2 would be coming to other PC platforms so it may not be locked to the Microsoft Store forever.

I would however like to PSO2es added, for QoL things like being able to feed your mag on the go and the additional storage.

@Archetype-Luna think the chances are slim for PSO2es NA when they are adding things you get in there in other parts of the game. The weaponoid weapons from unique weapon badges are PSO2es stuff, and I'm hearing soul receptor from challenge mode or something. Definitely much easier to get lower slots (3 to 4) soul receptor from PSO2es though.

Until they come out and say more ways to earn SGs are coming the assumption is that it will stay bad.

If they don't change I could see a future where enough people abandon the game and go back to the JP version over this kind predatory monetization for them to close the NA version and act like the NA market wasn't as big as they thought instead of it being bcause of them them shooting themselves in the foot.

@Gay-Werewolf depends on how much Microsoft willing to keep the game running. Don't think PSO2 would have came over to the west if it wasn't for Microsoft, though the Microsoft Store has been a disaster.

PSO2 SEA was closed down after 2 years - they had Asiansoft running it but it wasn't profitable and closed down in 2 years.

PSO2 TW ran by Beanfun/Gamania lasted for about 3 years and then shutdown.

SEGA said they plan to support PSO2 for at least 10 years, we're currently having 8th anniversary right now on JP. Two more years till they re-evaluate whether to keep it running or not.
