That feeling when everyone queues up solo at an UQ and no one uses your party beacon

Oh right, I forgot no one ever bothers to specify urgent or ultimate when they say "UQ" and pretty much always mean urgent. It's UrQ and UlQ people, s'not rocket science.

Here he goes again........people will figure it out. The antagonist!

Seems the paranoia is high with some people.

Granted, UQs won't offer any good drops for anything other than SU for several more months.

As if cubes/affixes weren't valuable enough.
Not to mention how frustrating it is to waste 5-15 minutes for no actual reward because of some jerk who only cares about his extra 10% xp?

It's an old habit, play solo back then there was no party boost. Also some people kick just because you don't have a pure mag so now I have my mag hidden. So I mostly play solo been playing that way for 8 years.

You can call it whatever you want yourself, but when the official website calls Urgent Quests "UQS" on announcements, expect people to call it UQ

To me Urgent Quests = EQs and Ultimate Quests = UQs

non-JP players won't know that EQ is referring to urgent

I'd be more inclined to join parties if the degenerate block 2 ERPers that plague each ship didn't have pornographic symbol arts set to every single one of their autochats.

For example: alt text

I don't mind symbol arts, I don't mind autochats, and I don't even mind porn but this shit never left my fucking screen during the entirety of the UQ and this happens about 1 in 3 times I join a party for a UQ and normally the content is way worse.

Does it count as porn if it has no nudity? If so, everything is porn. The context can be assumed that it's something sexual, but it could also just be straight torture going on. It could very will be someone sticking needs in a hostages appendages for all you know xD

@HarmlessSyan

I'm sure a lot know its an EQ (Emergency Quests) for UQ (Urgent Quests) its plastered everywhere.

PSO2 NA System - Emergency mission alert: large-scale deployment operation in progress. All ARKS ops, report to the Quest Counter to join the mission.

Red Rings Say - Emergency, Emergency, Emergency, ect...

So I wouldn't mind to see this changed from Urgent Quests to Emergency Quests.

@Bette I always thought people put down those things next to the teleport to troll newbies and make them miss the teleport because it’s easy to confuse where to go when you are new.

After hitting 75 on multiple classes and playing for almost a month, I had no idea I could party up in a UQ after already joining, or drop one myself.

Considering that I have figured out how to make a pure mag, augment gear and enhance gear and use the “auction house” as well as other complex parts of the game and had no idea this existed, I would assume the majority of people who probably also don’t even check the forums have no idea what those even do.

Convoluted PS02 mechanics ftw.

You're not wrong, and I really wish the game mechanics were less convoluted too. But Jan has quests to introduce you to most of the features you listed.

When I first started, I thought the party beacon was a very weird 'feature', too. I was like, why use this when I can just click 'nearby' players and invite the players from the list with white names?

Which, by the way, seems to work more then dropping a party beacon, from my experience (using 'nearby' to invite un-grouped players). But I when using party beacons, I can drop one down and then activate the starting "countdown." (The person who activates the quest countdown can't chat or cast buffs, so this is why I use party beacon, that and because the majority of players just sit around and wait for someone else to activate the countdown (or activate it way too soon, in some cases, haha!)).

I love this game and I intend to play it forever (or until PSO3 comes out), I just wish the game mechanics were friendlier, especially to keyboard users.

I've 3 rules

  1. Don't join badly designed characters: Characters are a reflection of the player, and I'm biased because every time I joined a badly done one, I was trolled somehow. Can't expect anything nice from someone who isn't even nice to its own character.
  2. Don't join anyone who is severely undergeared, for example, below sigma on XH
  3. Don't join anyone with autochat

Following these 3, I usually have no problem with partying up with randoms.

Dont you think that what is a nice character depends completly on your own opinion? I mean, what you think is a "not nice character" can be just fine for anybody else?

I can see that being a preference for many, but I actually enjoy autochat and find it useful -- IF it is set up "right," in a non-spammy way.

A few things I don't like autochat used for:

  1. Symbol art (unless you know of a way to display specific encounter mechanics, never use this aside from the very beginning or end of the mission).
  2. Always speak in group only with autochat (and don't register your friend avatars with autochat that announces emergency trials w/locations. Let the player decide if they want to do that).
  3. Skip all the spammy autochats, including but not limited to all but a hand full of the autochat in the 'Actions' tab.
  4. Self moderate your autochat - keep it family friendly (i.e., rated PG). I don't know if "you" knew this, but not everyone who plays this game is a single, teenage boy in a private room, lol.

That said, no one is going to read this before grouping with me, or before I use their friend avatar (except those in my alliance), so I'm always ready to disable autochat if any of my guidelines are broken.
