Censorship is NOT needed in this M rated game.

Very well. Hard-ball it is boyo.

I'd also like to +1 to the general points that Zodiak Brave mentioned in the Topic Creation/OP.

Final Fantasy XIV got a T rating from the ESRB and I would remind that ERP/cat houses, skimpy outfits, & HIGHLY-suggestive interactions abound over there, and yet..... the world isn't on fire. I see the occasional person being immature about it, but in general I ~more often~ see people treating each other with respect and respecting each others' boundaries in kind. They also have super-short stature characters too and I have yet to see that used ~openly and in an inappropriate manner~. Moderation does exist for anything overstepping boundaries, though I have never personally seen things taken so far that a polite conversation or walking somewhere else didn't solve the issue.

What I would like to see from Sega and the PSO2 NA team is what Zodiak Brave mentioned: clear communication. I think it's a large part of what has made Final Fantasy XIV such a success for many years, and what has set the precedent for the sort of tone with which the community acts.

I think a lot of us also understand & respect that PSO2 is a product of a business and that console partners are going to have certain expectations as to what sorts of content is present (or not allowed) on their hardware. As was mentioned in the OP, a vast majority of us longtime Phantasy Star fans are going to be highly observant of any changes, I myself ~do not want ANY censorship~ and would prefer that as much of the JP experience as economically possible be maintained here on this version as well. I'm excited to give the NA version a chance and I want to see it succeed beyond PSOBB and PSU before it, but I also remember how much better the JP versions of those games ultimately became.

The reality of the matter is that all of us posting on this board are a ~vocal~ minority of the playerbase and most new players that jump in and try PSO2 for the first time are going to generally be happy with what they are presented with, especially after the beta on Xbox. But the fact remains: PSO2 is rated M. Barring neglectful parents, all of us players and fans are adults, desire mature and respectful interactions from our community, and in turn hope that Sega and the PSO2 NA team are in a position to give us the tools with which to create a mature, interpersonal respect/empathy-filled, 18+ world to enjoy & interact in. For anything that does not contain respect and empathy, swift and clear moderation is quite welcomed.... I just never want to see it preemptively forced on us either via missing content or game functions.

A limited height slider, toned down breast physics and some altered outfits doesn't change my excitement for the game at all. I can take or leave that stuff, gameplay and socializing with worthwhile players is what I'm looking forward to. I'd rather they save their efforts for toxic spam in chat myself. My block list was always full on PSU so hopefully they either handle them better or give me a much bigger list to fill. lol

I agree with this post. Considering most MMOs and other NA ports (notably FFXIV, Tera, & BnS to name a few) have a race/height option for shorter characters, in addition to having more suggestive/sexual themes in comparison to PSO2 JP, it's confusing as to why censorship here would be the right choice.

Comparisons aside, by limiting the height meter you're inadvertently limiting the player base in more ways than one.

For example; I play on the PSO2 JP server and have played through the CBT as my main character Zelkova, a character from one of my favorite game series whose character model, despite being an AI, is that of a younger male. The height for my character on the JP server is 143*. From what I've gathered from previous posts regarding the default height on the NA version, I would not be able to create my character in the same way that I've created it on the JP server, which is disappointing. : -(

  • Does this restrict me from creating my character at a taller height? No.

  • Does this restrict me from creating an accurate representation of the character I want to play? Yes.

If I or anyone else for that matter wants to play a tribute character and are unable to due to limitations on height, that's another section of the player base that's been marginalized.

I mean, there are plenty of other reasons as to why censorship is bad, but I believe most of the other posters here addressed them.

The game is already rated M for a reason. don't punish the fans. the backlash from the mídia is not real and will not affect the west release. they will not consume nor play the game. the fans will.

I support the theme creator. There should be some penalties for toxic statements and outrage to people. It would be great if a version of the prison were made in the game. So that toxic players do not just sit in prison for a while, but are engaged in construction or other works. But censorship of bodies and all adult human behavior is excessive.

What is prison if not temporary censorship?

There is censorship of bodies and adult behavior. But insulting other people is not a healthy behavior, for such toxic players there should be a place in the game where they will improve. May be temporarily put them in a kind of psychiatric hospital, where an NPC psychotherapist or real specialist will help such players to return in a healthy society of ARKS. Also in such institutions should be placed the players who received a mental illness while doing urgent quests or something like that.

I'm sure segac has the funds to pull armies of psychotherapists. There is no possible way that this could go wrong. I love this idea 100%. If there is any suggestion from the forums that is instituted in game please please PLEASE by the powers of ClumsyOrchid let it be this one.

Im fine with censorship so long as it only blocks the ability to make 12 year old girls in G-strings doing a stripper chair dance, like you are able to in the JP Version. Keeping everything else is fine.

@Alexandrious947 Any censorship at any level is someone else telling me what I do or do not want to see. I'll make that decision for myself. If I don't want to see the supposed 12yo on the stripper pole, I'd just continue on my way, take .0005 seconds to move the camera, and just not look at it.

@Z0DIAK-BRAVE Then thats when you rebel, put on your big boy pants, get a PC, and mod it in so only you can see it.

I know, im awesome at giving suggestions. Its a gift.

I am on a PC. I will be playing if they keep it pure as it was intended on a PC. I'm pretty sure Sega doesn't take kindly to modding their game much less you continually giving out your "awesome suggestions" that are against the EULA for people to mod their game, so please stop telling people to break the rules. Especially in this thread. Thanks.

@Z0DIAK-BRAVE anyone that used Tweaker violated the EULA.

But arguing here is the wrong place.

But we arent using Tweaker for this region now, are we? So even suggesting others to use mod is against the rules.

And he is already breaking rules by jumping into this thread again trying to troll with disagreements.
