Removing Height Restrictions

Please allow me to make my tiny elf. It's genuinely disappointing that I can't play her the way she's intended to look

I also support removing the restriction. It sends a signal that you're willing to censor the game, and there will always be a fear it'll be taken further. I understand you're trying to appeal to cultural sensibilities, though I think it's a bigger harm and worse PR to show you're fine with censorship than it is to allow characters below 5ft exist.

Honestly, I would like this to be as close to the Japanese version as possible. It seems like such a absurd thing to change. You should be banning pedophiles as they appear. Not punishing people that legitimately play as smaller characters. Whether it's for roleplay, a joke, or whatever. If coaxing pedos is the aim, all that removing small characters does is allow themselves to hide as regular characters anyway (and continue their predation). It literally achieves nothing removing this option.

I do understand this game is risque and has lewd cosmetics, it's part of what draws me to it. However, small adult women are still adult women.

I really do hope devs fix this. This censorship is just a lazy approach that not only restricts creative freedom but ends up being discriminatory against really short people. Imagine actually being that height and not being allowed to exist in the game. What is this a rollercoaster? Lol...

That is a major point. Do not go silently into that goodnight, fight. If they think censoring is fine then they could censor or remove other things. Ii know Nintendo is famous for this, and now sony has gotten worse with NA release games as well.

When auxiliary gets a pass and mind you they can be customize and are below 150 cm with 90 cm being the shortest I think and the tallest being 120 cm but if the player goes below 150 cm it's a big no. I'm telling you it doesn't make any sense on even having a restriction on height considering auxiliary exist.

I always play as shorter characters in MMOs. More and more nowadays these kinds of characters keep getting more and more restrictions put onto them, and I have to be honest when I say that its the number one thing that drives me away from a game. I just want to play as the character that appeals to me the same as anyone else does.

And I understand that the changes to PSO2 aren't as significant as some other games have made, I mean its only what? 10 Centimeters? But after all this time, its the idea behind it that's become hurtful. Whether it was the intention or not, the implication to a change like this is "we don't want people making a character that looks like this or can be interpreted in this way".

And that makes me feel like you don't want me here. Like you don't want me to be a part of your community. It makes me feel like I'm being labeled a creep or a weirdo just for wanting to play as a character in a video game. It feels awful. Especially with a game like PSO2 that so many people, myself included, have been waiting so long for an official western release for. And I know a lot of people will try to spin it around and say "I guess you really didn't care that much if something like this was enough to turn you away from the game", but I do care. I care so damn much. But whenever I suck up my pride and try to play a game that implements a localization change like this, I can't look at my character without feeling like the developers hate me and don't want me here.

Please revert the changes to the height slider and allow me to enjoy your game.

Blimey - I know I've said my bit already, but I just wanted to chime in that your post hits super close to home; it's exactly the feelings I get when anything gets adjusted from the original version of a game for the presumed sensibilities of the target region. A combination of this potentially unreasonable but nonetheless inescapable sense of personal hurt, and of being patronised and lumped in with the individuals apparently can't handle something that doesn't fit the blinkers of the less telerant members of the culture one's stuck with.

The most shrieking example is when... I think it was Blade & Soul? rewrote and removed whole arcs and storylines on the assumption that another market - and by extension I - wouldn't be able to handle stories that confront people trafficking or prejudice, but nonetheless every little change like this one is a creeping addition to that unpleasant feeling of, just as you put it, being either unwanted or having the worst pressumed of me.

Just logged on for the first time here to say that I too want everything we have in JP, including the original height limit.

@GM-Deynger I am sure you all have been swamped with the launch and I know the devs team's focus is probably working on a stable environment at the moment. That being said do we know if a ticket/issue/report has been submitted to the dev team to potentially take a look at this? I (we) understand the team has priorities but I also didn't know if maybe they had different groups working on different things and you had heard anything back.

Thanks for staying with us and supporting us.

My two cents, for what they're worth:

I'd like the minimum height restriction to be lowered to what was normal in JP. I always had it at the minimum in JP, and enjoyed being just as small as NPCs like marlu; even smaller than Io making it hilarious how she would still look up to you and call you senpai/boss.

I think part of the appeal of PSO2 is being able to do whacky and absurd stuff with the character creator; so it seems silly that you'd take something as simple as a couple cm out of it. Not only do I not see the reason such types of characters should be restricted, but even if I did I'd have to play devils advocate here and point out that the dozen or so CM change doesn't really stop people from doing that; it just kinda puts a damper on not being able to be make the character as short as some would like.

I'm just here to say Yes so my vote counts. It's fun to do whacky things with character creator, no reason to censor it. If I wanna make a little loli/shota with a giant gun for comedic effects why not? why remove content and creativity? Appeases no one. This is a chance to get some + points and compensate for the launch

if possible having the height restriction removed would be great so I can match the height of my character from JP

Personally don't need this feature, but I agree. Tons of MMOs in NA/EU have characters that are pre-made tiny or with the ability to customize and become that way. Can't see why Sega has to avoid/prevent it.

It's not just SEGA btw, it's just anything Japanese related normally gets censored when it comes to the west. Xenoblade Chronicles X also got censored when it came out a few years ago. The snowflakes in America want to censor everything and anything they don't agree with and gaming companies are forced to comply with it. Nobody wants to deal with a horde of Karen's trying to sue them.

Except this time, SEGA JP censored itself. Microsoft isn't publishing it, SEGA JP is.
