New to PSO

Hey guys!

I was browsing the internet as I usually am and was inspired after visiting the PSO2 Twitter to pop into forums.

I just wanted to say thank you to the community and developers for giving me such a positive initial experience over the CBT weekend. I am a completely new player to the the entire franchise and hopped on the hype train when I started seeing PSO2 in my recommended videos on YouTube. After jumping into the game I had a lot of fun grouping with people and taking on quests ( I believe I only missed 1 maybe 2 events over the entire CBT ) and I ended right around level 30. I can tell this game has a lot to offer, and I was rushed to really get a feel of the game-play during CBT so I overlooked the bulk of the itemization and secondary features ( Casino, etc...). Honestly, this all just makes me even more excited to learn the more in-depth parts of the game when I get a chance to get into the live game and spend time on it.

I know many people do not like to read long blocks of text so in summary:

Pro

  • First time player experience.

  • Community friendliness.

  • Excellent grouping system for easy matchmaking parties.

Cons

  • Learning curve seems steep. though third party websites and videos can overcome this

  • CBT already over 😞

Final Thought Thanks for a great experience and keeping your players well informed via Twitter etc. during the struggles of CBT. KEEP IT UP!

Why not play some PSO:BB in the meantime between now and open beta n_n

Welcome to the community! So glad to see people finding an interest in phantasy star! The learning curve might seem steep, but I promise it's not. The first few hours can be a bit overwhelming, but then you start finding the groove of it all. For some helpful leveling info! don't forget to check under Gameplay > Missions & Client Orders. Some helpful info there.

Hope the Open Beta comes soon, so all the new players can try it out!

It may seem steep but only learning skill tree's is the steep part. You can learn a lot about every class through class specific missions and training missions. third party websites and guides only really help to give a finer point to them. This game is one of the most new player friendly MMO's out there.

Yes but hopefully soon we will see news on OBT.

Oh no you're at the point of no return. Welcome to the void, you will not remember what you used to do prior to phantasy star.. Its on par with getting a new girlfriend minus the obvious.

Welcome to PSO! It's very cool to see new people gaining interest in the series. It is a very addicting series. PSO2 is definitely overwhelming at first. I felt overwhelmed by PSO2 and i've played PSO/PSU/PSP. PSO2 is definitely one of those games where the more you play it the more things start to make sense.

Having played the JP version I can give you some advice. Do not mess up your skill tree and do not mess up your mag. Messing either of these up can make your character much weaker and cost RL money to fix to buy resets.

Welcome @Gankstar0 !

PSO2 has amazing gameplay and we're glad to have more people joining the community.

Have been in love with this series since Gamecube and can't wait to experience more of it.

Since there have been a lot of people playing the JP version of it there are a lot of guides.

Welcome! I have friends I've known 10 years+ because of PSU & PSO. So exciting when a new one comes out. Theres so much to do & learn but it's all worth it. The variety is perfect, theres something for every type of mood in PS.
