Gcha Concerns/suggestions

I'm worried that any neat appearances and the like from collab events will be 100% gacha based with no chance to get any of that via drops. I understand this is very common in JP games, but I don't think this will fly very well with an NA audience. 😕

0% chance a premium item would be a drop, does any game do that?? The only hope I would have is that a shop is implemented instead of the gacha, so you just buy the item you want in the limited time, instead of buying the lootbox with the chance to get the same, or one of the 150 other items offered.

If you expect to get premium content without premium currency, you are dependent on what the people will sell in the market (IF they make those tradeable, they are in JP), so mostly saving your meseta for phashion.

Could do kind of what Tera Online does with some items being in the cash shop for just a currency and some behind a gacha. But I think they will just follow suit of the JP version

@landman Well yeah actually, case in point FFXIV. Every event has some items that come with it by default, then those items go into a cash shop down the road. I have no issue with buying stuff, but i'm not a fan of throwing money at something in the hope of getting a thing and not even knowing the % chance of it.

I believe you can actually see the percentages for the scratch cards. I know there is also a "gold" version which essentially removes some of the lower tier items to increase the chance of getting like... clothing or something, but it does remove some exclusives too.

They can all be sold on the market though at least. I just personally hope it won't be a one time then never again though.

@Princesse-Jen Yeah ... playing on the JP servers i a bit depressing knowing i'd never get any of that probably.

There are times when events are collabs have exclusive items without gacha. But a majority of the money that goes into PSO2 comes from the AC Scratch collabs, events, etc...

@Id0lHeart FFXIV is subscription based though. Pay to play games run very differently, and would likely cause a riot if they implemented all the free to play gacha/loot box nonsense ^_^

Yeah, lootboxes are something they need to stay away from if they can. Granted there's a casino lol

90 percent of costumes, accessories, hair styles, lobby actions come from AC scratches. So this will not change any time as that is how they make money

@ZephyrAM I never said all, and yes i agree that would go poorly. Having a chance *albeit low) to get a drop from akill during the event would be fine i think. Some folks have more time to spare than money.

So another bit of information on the gacha/ac scratch items. There is the miss system. Depending on how many times you use AC scratch no matter if you got something good or bad. You will get a guaranteed set reward.

The only system people who are not going to spend money in lootboxes need to know is if spenders can sell their gains in the market, then fremium players just need to save meseta and purchase it before another one does it, like in the Japanese server.

@landman it’s how it works on Jp server, that’s how the whales make meseta

@The-Question Oh that's nice to know, thanks for the info 😀
