Will Xbox players be able to play their characters on PC and close versa?

Or is it not possible due to how the saves work? Genuinely curious if we can do this.

Edit: Title is suppose to say vice versa, but autocorrect made it that. RIP

Yes it will be possible.

You will be using your xbox live account for PC and on xbox and can use the same character.

Microsoft account actually for PC (via Microsof Store), which is tied to your Xbox Live Account. We don't know the details on a steam release and how it will work.

Would that mean windows 10 only?

If it releases on steam, it will likely be compatible with Windows all the way back to Windows 7. But we don't know if it requires a Microsoft Account login, we'll have to wait and see. If it does, it might be Windows 10 only even on steam too.

What I think he means is there a Windows 10 store version and Steam version. Usually in the past only Windows 10 store stuff was cross play. If it follows suit of the newer type games involving Xbox it would be crossplay/save with Steam, Win10 store, and Xbox.

@F0XB0MB Unrelated, good to see ya fox 😄

If it releases on steam then you will probably only have to connect your microsoft/xbl account or they will set the client up in a way that you just connect from the client itself.

Possibly. Windows 7 has reached end of life as of last month, it's not receiving any more updates, expect it to slowly go the way of Windows XP from now on (that is, future games are not guaranteed to support Windows 7 from now on).

But if the sava data is allocated to the console and not the server it won't be possible. Least that is how FF14 works.

It looks like it is, based on the menu options from cbt. There is an option to delete local data

Local data is probably just the game's data, and/or settings... etc. FFXIV keeps configs/etc. in separate files as "Save Data."

Characters are saved to the cloud data system on the servers. Your console saves that data to decrease load times and such. It's the same as the cloud system used on JP for the cross play from Switch, Vita, PS4, and PC.

@GamerKillance The character appearance info is the only thing saved locally.

The character's appearance can be saved locally, so if you make changes to your character's appareance but end up not satisfied with the results, you can reload a previous appearance that was saved locally.

The actual save data is saved in the servers.
