braver sunbclass

so im currently bow main for braver and was wondering would hunter or ranger be best for subclass for this set up?

Hunter or Fighter with a DEX Mag.

@coldreactive ranger wouldnt be better for bow main due to the weakpoint damage etc? and the extra range attack?

@ShAdY113 Yes, technically Ranger is a stronger subclass for Bow Braver assuming that you are under ideal conditions:

  • Advanced Precision Hit 1 + Advanced Precision Hit 2 + Stationary Fire 1 + Stationary Fire 2 + First Hit = ~228% (~274% with Blight Rounds)

But, under less than ideal conditions, it can drop off to as low as 125% when you are moving without hitting a weakspot.

This is opposed to Hunter where you get a more consistent multiplier:

  • Perfect Attack Bonus 1 + Perfect Attack Bonus 2 + Fury Stance + Fury Stance Up 1 + Fury Stance Up 2 + Perfect Fury Bonus = 161%

@AndrlCh said in braver sunbclass:

First Hit

And that probably won't be happening in UQs / party content.

would using 75 fighter as a sub be better then using a 61 hunter as a subclass? i got braver and fighter to 75.

I was mainly pointing it out because a lot of ranger / gunner characters will instantly start auto attacking / normal attacking as soon as they spawn in a UQ, so it's extremely unlikely you'll get first hit.

@ShAdY113 Fighter can give you more damage than Hunter, but it still falls under those conditionals, and without the safety nets.

The most common scenario with Fighter would be:

  • Valiant Stance + Valiant Stance Up + Tech Arts Perfect Attack Bonus = ~177%

If you don't proc Tech Arts Perfect Attack Bonus because you didn't combo your PAs, it drops down to 154%.

There's a reason why hunter is the go to subclass most of the time. It adds reliable damage and defensive skills.

Hu sub is the go-to because it has the most consistent damage multipliers on top of survivability. It is a general/basic build until successors are release. This sub only requires you to JA to gain all the possible multipliers you can get from it (if you have the skills learned).

Su is another option, mainly used for bossing due to point assist (which can be cancerous because you have to keep reapplying it). The sub provides raw stats like more PP, ATK, and DEF which is good. More pp = more combo sustain. This sub has passive dmg but your biggest gain comes from point assist.

Ra sub is also for bossing for the most part, but for other contents Hu serves a better purpose for general use and there's also Su that's also a safer bossing sub option since Ra offers no defensive support. This sub requires you to be able to get weak point hits otherwise you're better off using Su.

Fi as sub for Br may seem nice at first but you're sacrificing too much for conditional multipliers, you're also very prone to dying due to HP conditionals as one mistake and you're apart of floor gang. This sub is more for those who are experienced with the weapon and also know how to avoid getting hit because you're a glass cannon. The multipliers are all conditional, which means you will constantly have to keep watch of your status at all times to get the most out of it.
