Questions coming from a couple of long time PSU players.

In the beta, I noticed the mission system was a lot different from PSU, in PSU you actually had to progress to that physical place & there would be really nice hang out areas in between the missions. Are those still present in PSO 2? I remember we had beaches etc to hang out at & I just didnt feel there was many social areas in this game so far.

Also when purchasing player shop items do you goto their rooms & make the purchase still? I really enjoyed the first come first serve aspect & it was nice seeing your room be filled with random people, made the shop feel authentic to me.

Unfortunately not, I so wish it was that way. You also do not go directly to their room but you still can if you really wanted to. Everything is through windows πŸ™‚

@Rzarcasm Big loss for me personally, you actually felt like you were exploring the planets & felt rewarded for doing so. Thanks for the info 😊

I also wish it worked the same way as it did in PSU. I really liked reaching new lobbies, and actually going to peoples rooms to buy things. Kind of made it feel more adventurous in a way. But I guess we'll have to wait until Phantasy Star Universe 2... if that ever happens lol

Completely agree, happy I'm not alone in this haha.

Luckily you can still put your weapon away and relax by the coast for awhile, just until an enemy spawns from the distance. Haha, no problem! coast.png

@Ler Yeah my friend was actually hoping for the same thing. At least you can move your team room to really nice locations and hang out there. In a way, those are like new lobbies.

I would say the reason why PSU had the lobbies and areas lke it did was because it was basically 2 games in one, you had Ethans single player story and the multiplayer dungeon running PSO gameplay we love, a lot of what you see missing were tied to that single player storyline.

Take that away and the things you need to fit the story like Planetside cities are not needed for the gameplay, at the same time though while they are not needed they are missed

The lobby in PS02 is pretty expansive AND there is a separate Challenge Mode Lobby as well. You can also create a Guild Room that you can decorate and deck out. In total there is: Front lobby (Mission Start!), Back Lobby (shops, concert room, two floors, red and blue rooms, personal room access), Cafe! (its a coffee shop), Casino (Rappy slots babyyyyy), and Challenge Mode Lobby (Alternative idle position if Star's monstrosity of a character is jiggling in block 1 lobby too much).

@Ler the alliance quarters can change though to different things I saw, one of the options looked like the hot springs from psu

@FluffyShinobi My bad, I played when alliance wasn't around

@Ler I feel like the expedition quests are still a thing and going through them seems to unlock new areas and quests. It’s not as linear as PSO or PSU, but it seems like it’s still sort of a thing to do.

yeah it seems a little too 'centralised' around the ship, no planet shops or lobbies. Shame really... I lol'd at buying crimson line boards and putting them in my shop for 500k and watch them get snapped up by 'lab rats' it was the funniest thing ever.

If they removed the lobby things is precisely to avoid deserted missions and White Beast congregations. In fact, they had to ad later in the game (at least in japan) a global mission counter in the Guardian's Colony. Franca's Cafe changes location every now and then, it's the same locations a team room can get for a month, but being a public place (Team Rooms can be open to anyone unless they are locked).

Not needing to teleport to someone else's room to buy is, in my opinion, a huge quality of life improvement for the buyers.

I totally support the quality of life improvements, I'm happy the option for the store is still there, love checking out rooms.
