To all those complaining about height censoring - were you in control, what should the minimum height be? And why is that height OK? I posit that you're unable to give me a solid reason why limit on height at all should not go to zero without some arbitrary threshold criteria.

I already made a suggestion post and my thoughts on the whole height thing. I just think it should just be left as is. As somone who is small I like to play my main as a small representation of myself. But since I already have it on JP I'm not overly worried myself about it on here.

Being in japan how is phantasy star merch. I see a lot in streams and wondered how easily its to get. Random i know but ill have something to add to this topic when i get home.

Do you mean in game merch or merch you can get at cafe's, cons, or at shows?

cons and stores in real life.

122.JPG 12.JPG Examples of clip art you will see in japan. I still have no idea how they do it. I can see a few of these not making it stateside. One reason i had to crop one out lol

@Meta77 At cons it's not hard to get. You can even comission completely custom PSO2 works. Some stores that specialize in retail gaming or sponsor the game will often times have sales or specials you can get. You can even get stuff at SR events like the last one we held at TGS the grand prize for the event was a custom Falz Luther statue that one of the people within the community made. So overall I would say getting PSO2 merch is pretty easy. You could probably use Amazon to order PSO2 merch just like you can for a lot of other games, anime, manga, etc...

Clearly things aren't fine when cultures are so vastly different. This is why localization exist.

If you're saying that Japanese culture is the problem, then there's no point in bringing a game rooted in it over to the west. Using localization as a guise to get rid of the stuff you find offensive is just censorship.

I am curious though, how short is too short for you? The minimum height in the NA version right now is 153 cm. That's just slightly over 60 inches (5 feet). Back when I was in middle school, most of my peers were at or above 5 feet in height with few exceptions. Is it okay for people to be as tall as a 12 year old, or would you prefer the mimimum be increased even further to 163cm (64 inches), which is the average height for adult women in the US.

The problem with your mindset here, which is basically just "lol shut up and ignore it" is that it goes both ways. You can't really just tell someone their concerns aren't valid and not expect to be told the same. In this case, it's a height slider. If it bothers you that much, just ignore it. You should be able to make a better case than "I'm right, and if you disagree, shut up."

I'm not saying that their opinion doesn't matter. It does, and I disagree with it, but also I don't think that saying to ignore it suddenly means they should shut up. Why is that automatically where you go to? Maybe I should rephrase the statement from "ignore it" to "you shouldn't consider every short character you see to be a child." Which is what I actually mean to say.

As for your sentiment that if the height slider bothers me that much I should ignore it, I'll just say that I have no issues with the height slider as it is in the Japanese version, and the NA version. It doesn't bother me either way since it doesn't concern me personally.

There is a difference between not liking something and simply being a difference in cultures. Perfect example would be persona 5 royal. They are removing a specific scene because two homosexual men go flirt with an underage boy. In Japan it's a running gag of "Haha gay men and pedophiles" since homosexuality is often scorned there and older men going after people in high school or below is a known issue for them. In their culture it's fine to have that tasteless jokes like that.

Here in the west you'd be quickly yelled at and possibly sued depending if you're making money off that statement.

This height thing is also a product of localization because we don't make cartoon underage girls be in adult situations or wear adult clothing which PSO2 has. Remember their audience is the west and not the east this time. The whole "well they're older than they look" doesn't fly in the west. If that was the case soooooo many pedophiles would be off the hook by that definition.

Trying to say something doesn't have an argument because you don't agree and saying "reeeeee censorship supporter" is just childish. At least that is what I got from your statements.

Looks up phantasy star universe again

Wait what?

Also I keep seeing repeated arguments about the same exact thing repeated with the whole height thing. If you don't like the idea of supporting the removal of censorship or height limitations then don't support it in suggestions. If you do like the idea of getting rid of one or the other then you can go to in-game suggestions and show your support for whatever you wish. You can all keep arguing about the same thing for another 10 pages or you can show support or lack thereof.

I agree that the game shouldn't be censored. We as a community need to stand up in saying that we need to get the same content as the japan version. As thats what was promised to us. Its time that the esrb relizes that you cant go censoring everything out of fear of who will be on the game. Prime example of this was PSU. As regaurdless of the rating. There were players that were on that game scamming RL nude pics ect. While I understand protecting the community and kids. The responsibility lies with adults of what there kids play and see. Its a shame that we get censored content. Due to exposed skin or revealing outfits. But yet its ok For kids under 18 or younger. And when I say young I mean to the point of even under 6 years old. That there allowed to ply games as gta, Halo, Call of duty, Ect. Games with extreme violence. And far worse then PSO2 ever will be. And yet they censor games like pso2. All in all my thoughts are dont censor the game. I didnt jump on the bandwagon for pso2 when it was announced at e3 2019 only to receive censored content. Its time to stand up for the content PSO2 should have and was promised to us

I understand where your coming from with this exact statement but you need to remember. That it isn't just Pedophiles that are a problem. Let me ask you this. Put a young kid easily impressionable. And easily influenced. They are allowed to play games like. Saints row. Gta. Halo, Call of duty. what do you think is most likely going to happen when that easily impressionable kid plays these violent games? Are they going to say hey its just a game? or are they going to take it to literaly and start copying what happens in the game in rl? Remember the person who got arrested for grand theft auto after playing grand theft auto? Kid arrested for grand theft auto Point is agian responsibility lies with the adult. And the esrb despite ratings they give games. Need to relize this. and that censorship is not the entire answer. It only goes to show that there are parents out there who do not take an intrest in what there kids are doing, or the games they play. And let them do what they want so long as it keeps them out of the parents hair. In other words they dont care about there own child. That is not right in my book. So censoring a game isn't the answer. As for pedophiles. I agree keeping them off of pso2 but 99.9% of the time your more likely to find them in chat rooms. ect. Just statistics. And if they do come on pso2 its a simple way to deal with them its called report them to the admin team and block them. just some common sense

Your argument that violent videogames beget violent behavior in children has been exposed time and time again as simply not true.

Additionally there are instances where games have been censored or modified to avoid depictions of violence against children. Do you see children characters running around in Calla Duty? Or Fallout 3?

To the contrary, no, and even when there are children, they are usually part of a reserved class of NPCs that can't have harm done to them (case in point: Little Lamplight in FO3).

So I'll turn this question around on those decrying "censorship:" were you in control, what should the minimum height be? And why is that height OK? I posit that you're unable to give me a solid reason why limit on height at all should not go to zero without some arbitrary threshold criteria.

@Dark-Juggalo-75 the real question is this: are violent video games or violent music worse for impressionable kids?

eyeballs hatchetman

The minimum height should be what the minimum height has been for 8 years. Anything greater than that is censorship and cut content. No one is fighting for going even shorter, we just dont want less of a game or to be told what we should and shouldn't see. It's not difficult to grasp.

Also 15 pages in ppl are still all "but we gotta protect the kids!" NO. This game isn't rated E for everyone ffs.

@Z0DIAK-BRAVE the problem, imo, is that parents these days dont care much about the rating. They won't react until the issue is in their face. Now both sides care about the game. People arguing for the height restrictions just don't want the game to get caught up in some bs protest. It's going to be played by kids regardless of rating. It's going to be on all platforms (minus mobile). So there is alot of room for error, and it to blow up. Already have a whole casino. With scratch cards, aka lootboxes, there is already an uphill battle on that end. At this point there is nothing to argue over. The dev's already know how we feel on both sides. Ultimately though it will be up to them and their superiors. Everybody just wants this game to be a success.

Why? Why does something have to remain static? The number of classes in game has changed over the course of 8 years. The number of in game content has changed over 8 years. Hell, I'm sure even the pricing structure has changed over 8 years.

So why is this one aspect of the game so sacred? Is there a non-arbitrary reason for keeping it the same? I have yet to see anyone make a concerted effort to advance one other than a half-hearted attempt to claim TA/SR efficiencies.
