Bring back planet lobbies and weapon manufacturers

Planet lobbies helped make PSU feel just a bit more like a massively multiplayer online game and weapon manufacturers added a nice bit of flavor to the game.

PSO2 doesn't exactly need these but for the life of me I can't understand why it doesn't have them other than the fact PSU failed, in spite of the fact that these have nothing to do with why PSU failed.

I would have to agree it was awesome having those options and the different vibe of each planets lobby . I also miss the areas after bosses you could chill with people after they beat them as well

@Ephemeral-Opus Well those technically still exist but they're mostly EQ-exclusive.

Ahh I Haven’t gotten to those yet

@Ephemeral-Opus There's one right after you beat elder. I meant the ones at the end of the quests. Course the flower field one after you beat profound darkness (which is similar to the rappy bonus quest area) is way better.

You do remember this game is 8 years old, right? how do you expect them to ad something that's not been planed for the whole life of the game, just now, that's reaching the climax? it doesn't make sense lore wise, since ARKS is an organisation with the objective to save the universe, where do manufacturers, capitalism and branding come into the picture here? Planet lobbies? the base of operations is the fleet, you want to chill on each planet? that's called team/alliance ship landing on a planet, or waiting for franca's cafe to change scenarios, but don't make me say again how much of a problem was the lobby system in PSU, with everyone just staying in one single lobby repeating one single quests over an over until a new more profitable quests landed then all the community migrated to the next lobby.

I think PSO2 did just fine with their social areas, plus not to mention more or less in PSU's entire lifespan practically 98% of the lobbies went totally unused anyways so you'd just be walking through a wasteland outside of very few specific situation. They could probably do a decent compromise come the next game though.

To be fair, PSO2 had a ton of flavor text with it's weapon description among other things in the JP version, but right now in NA more or less everything just have placeholder text. We'll see by the "full" release this changes or not.

PSU's lobbies were so barren because the game didn't have much population to begin with.

both US and JP version had this problem throughout still.

I don't see how that's a counter to my point. The Japanese version of PSO2 has a huge playerbase. If the US version manages beyond expectation to somehow manage to get that big, it will also have a huge playerbase and the whole thing becomes a complete non-issue.

Well if PSU did have a giant player base, the problem would still technically exist since so many lobbies just flat out didn't really have any real use outside being pretty, and it's something not a lot of people even knew how to get to since so many missions weren't what players wanted to do in PSU.

I believe they let players go to any lobbies near the end of the game, but people still barely visited places on a whim.

Just letting players have slightly more easier access to more areas next time would at least be an easy fix

Also having more diversity at the quest counters sounds like it could help.

i believe this would be a waste of resources and time for the pso2 team as they were never very popular when psu was around and thats probably the reason they dont have them anymore. Also it not going to happen as this game is just a copy paste of the jap one with english translations, and that not something the jap ver has. if you want a diff lobby, go to the cafe, and or casino. if you are just looking for a place to gather then go to your alliance base, or change the scenery in you room

First of all, there's actually a precendent for F2P MMOs to have regional differences, not just in balancing, censorship (WoW's undead in China) or items (the SEA version had exclusive cosmetic items that were brought to the Japanese version when the SEA version died) but stories, areas and classes too, like in MapleStory for instance. Zen, Kanna, Hyato and Chase aren't in the native South Korean release. Also: 7f008d2d42e53056b7553acb35e1ca46.png d0309b336c3003fefc721baf1c9e9b4b.png

And that's just an example of the regional differences, as you can see, there was plenty of stuff not in the native South Korean Maplestory that was in other regions. I'm surprised frankly Maplestory has any of the Sengoku stuff at all considering how much Koreans apparently hate Japan. At the very least, the South Korean government wouldn't have allowed Nexon to include it, hence why it's not on the South Korean servers.

I'm not sure why the rest isn't though. (Zen seems to be the Chinese version of Jett though, aside from Taiwan where Zen was later removed, Zen was only released in regions where Jett wasn't)

Also if it was just a copy paste, Episode 4-6 would be included in the beta and there wouldn't be a fortnite battle pass or fresh finds shop.

Edit: Also IIRC, the SEA version had unique event lobbies.

true, im sure the na ver will have their own unique touch to the game.

Cause they need something to release over time, also they are probably not finish making whatever adjustments they are making to them. The fresh shop makes them money and from what i can tell it didnt take much effort, time,or resources to make.

True, but did they have planet lobbies? or did they just edit a room with the resources present and just modified a few models, and colors. They made xbox jackets for the na verison, so im sure na will have special events as well.

you didnt, it just insinuated in your post, and im not the only one to mis interpert this either as a previous comment above suggested the same thing.

Oh i understood, but if we are talking about feelings, PSO2 feels plenty like a MMO to me without those lobbies, and those lobbies felt more like chatrooms than part of the game to me, and i felt them to be unnecessary.
