Why does the Central City feel so small?

Central City including the top floor, where the central command lies, feels a lot smaller than the "break area" in Base PSO2 with Arks Lobby (consisting of Gate Area and Shopping Plazza) and Franca's Cafe, even when it's the non-expanded, default one, the Casino and the Bridge

So... will the Central City ever expand? Will we get seasonal settings that look more distinguished from the default one?

At least the music was good in the moon season

Probably just the open world design in NGS vs the hub/lobby system of PSO2. Central City has what it needs + extra building/spaces that can be repurposed for future uses. From the trailer of the desert area, we will get another city/hub there.

A part is simply that we got access to photon dash and jump. The faster you move, the smaller any given distance will appear, as it simply goes by faster, just as if it was simply a smaller distance.

Another part is the fact that every place you need is condensed in the main street, so you're not even using the entire city. Base has spread its facilities out more (and it had more facilities as well).

Plus, base was using windows and vistas to great effect - The big wings, the thrusters, the stars and ships outside as well as the city area at the bottom, all merely inaccessible decoration, created the illusion that the part you were in was merely a fraction of a giant spaceship/base. NGS cannot do that to the same effect due to the open world design, as Syan stated.

And I doubt any of it is gonna change much. But there might be more facilities, eventually.

Its actually as bigger as The ship lobby, Franca's and the casino combined without the shop redundancy. It already has a cafe area, and the stage area from the shopping plaza. Even has a place for the personal housing they didn't want to add. The areas just aren't getting used... yet, maybe. All of these places we just have little reason to go, and after the story tasks its easy to forget they are even there.

There is also possibly more to the city we don't see, there are two elevators that lead under ground yet the command room only has the one door, so there might be more stuff down there.

Most of the city is actually underground.

Yeah it needed more outskirt/sense of scale modeling (Like the Colony ships in base PSO2 or Pioneer 1) At best, Central city more a town, if anything.

I definitely feel the sense of scale in PSO2 is primarily the cityscapes you see in the shopping plaza and Franca's Café.

Was that confirmed anywhere? I just thought it was popular speculation.

Currently it feels more like a Post-Apocalypse Sci-Fi Fantasy with smol towns and survivors.

The elevator sign got translated.

The city is a front to conceal the canon underneath! Don't believe what the others say!!! Central City is the Zeus Canon reborn!!!

Because there isn't anything of value to do in the city and there is no point to leave the main strip of shops after you have done the 30 or so quests in the game. lol
