So, in regards to the recent revelations about getting banned for ERP.

It is honestly really awful to know they can comb through every last log and wantonly ban without context. I'd like to remind everyone that not only is this an M rated game, but it has a built in chat filter that you are unable to turn off. It makes even a few mundane and innocent words and phrases that aren't even foul language show up as @!@!@!@!@! and imagine if someone saw you typing a simple word that gets censored by accident just because they see those censor symbols in area chat, and later a GM combs through your logs and sees sexy words because you've been privately roleplaying a spicy scene with someone else a year ago? That's not deserving of a perma ban. Context is import. GMs disclosing the deciding factor is important. So we can point at the offending line and say "This was done in a whisper to user ____, you can see their consensual corresponding replies if you search the same timestamps from them." These are victimless "crimes".

People will probably dismiss me for using a throwaway account but I'm pretty much so paranoid at this point after having multiple friends banned (perma and temp) that I'd rather not draw any attention to myself.

This policy is absolute insanity, I've never been toxic to any random, in fact I don't actually ever speak in area chat or to random players outside of maybe a "hi" when I join EQs. However I do ERP and I have ranted in private group chats or whispers with language I'm sure GMs would consider toxic, I have spent easily around $2000 on my account over the past year and I'm now too terrified to even touch it and even if I hadn't invested anything and didn't fear losing my account the community has been harmed terribly by these bans and warnings that none of my friends even want to play let alone talk in game anymore, a handful have even just swapped back to playing on JP.

People have been openly exploiting, promoting RMT, even now people STILL red box. I've reported these people over and over again and the GMs have done absolutely nothing even the people I know who actually DID harass people openly in area chat with racist/sexist comments and insults (Including directly to a CM ingame) are still walking around without even ever having suffered a chat ban once. Yet the people I know who received punishment at least kept their trashtalking and ERP to private channels.

Permabans are just unimaginably harsh and doing them retroactive based on private conversations just results in people not going to want to spend money ever again on your game. I understand you want to make the community less toxic but temp bans along with proper reasoning would have had exactly the same result instead of resulting in this culture of fear that we have now, hell maybe if the GMs did their damn jobs and did ANY moderation in the past entire year this wouldn't have let the culture develop to the point where you feel they're necessary. Infact the chat filter itself (which is meant to be unremovable outside of file deletion or tweaker usage) has not been updated once, since the start of this game you've been able to say things as vile as the n-word just by adding an s on the end.

This entire issue is a complete joke and needs addressing fast before the already dwindling community falls even more, the CMs are directly contradicting support tickets with their statements in both the Fleet discord and the official discord which fills me with 0 faith or trust in either side of the support team.

I am beyond disappointed with this entire affair, I love PSO2 and was willing to stick with NGS even through this what might as well be an open beta amount of content for the social side of things but now you've gone and messed that up completely. I won't be spending a $ more on this game or even launching it for free rolls until this whole thing is addressed with a proper apology to the community.

I already took more or less a month off because I was simply bored that there was nothing to do. I came back of course, because I love the franchise. The only thing that had been keeping me invested was the name and the name alone. That, and I still get a lot of enjoyment playing in base.

I'll probably take another break, log in, do dailies, and just play around in BnS for a bit now that UE4 is finally out. Plus, the new event is practically giving away a lot of high tier gear that would help my character out a lot, so I will probably focus on that for the time being.

I have never heard of an mmo banning people for whispering stuff to each other when they were just friends and did not report each other. This is such an overreaction considering they didn't do jack shit against all the degeneracy in og pso2, the cheating or the abuse of xbox live rewards (up until oktober? when they simple deactivated it lol). We China now.

Also, why would you ban the last remaining players in a dying game? Face it the game attracts degenerates and is targeted towards weak minded people and people who need an dress up avatar game to cope with life. I have talked to far too many people to know which kind of person the average pso2 player is.

This may get deleted but this is a really shit take and reeks of projection. To say this game is for degenerates and targets weak minded people is just asinine. Where are you even getting that people need a "dress up an avatar" game to cope with life? That's such a leap of logic that....like bro WHAT? And let's say someone DOES use this game to cope, where is the issue there? Sometimes people need things to get away from their crappy lives a few hours a day. Gaming is about escape

And you probably haven't even spoken to 1% of the games playerbase so no, done even try to pull that card.

Yeah, it read like they were defending those players, whilst also judging the fuck out of them. Excuse my language, but this called for it. I feel like this might be another troll, given that they worded things in such a way.

@Anarchy-Marine I'm hoping that was a troll cause geez

I just hope it doesn't count as when someone says they look nice because people and I have done that within our alliance saying hey you look your character looks nice in that nothing more than that just a compliment

@Drakaina Compliments can easily come off as something vulgar or offensive to the wrong ears. Its no lie a risky thing to do in 2021.

It should be fine tho, in a video game...

"Why shouldn't you be banned for past offenses?"

  • Because people change, I'm a different person from the one I was a year ago. I met a lot of nice friends in PSO2 who have shaped who I am today. Comparing ERP and excessive wording to murder like Anamana did is stupid. Murder has no statute of limitation. Lesser crimes do.

  • Because you use a different language depending on who you talk to. It's usually okay to banter between old friends or be flirty with your lover. However, Global's mods do not understand context or audiences when they go through your logs. They treat anything you said the same as something that was said in area chat.

  • Because if they really cared about toxicity and indecency, they would have done something back then. This is a kneejerk reaction. They've let people spend money and time on their game, Sometimes thousands of hours, only to abruptly change their mind and ban them.

I don't care that they can "technically" do that. It isn't right and people's concerns are warranted.

@Drakaina It's the internet, I'd say yeah you can be as paranoid as that, especially this is global and everyone has their own way/culture on how they interpret things, not to mention not everyone has native English nor understand each of their own local jokes/puns. It's complicated. But the easiest one should be, there are some people can be overly skeptic even for the nice, purest, simple compliments, thinking that you might be trying to be friendly for a reason to take advantage of them. Sounds crazy but it's real.

So do these compliments should be considered toxic just because someone else got offended over it? I am surely not. Can you be reported by someone because of such possible miscommunication? Most likely yes. Does this mean you should stop talking? Nah, no need to conform yourself over some folks.

All ARKS! How do you think about undesirable ARKS:makapo in PSO2(JP)? He confessed that he exploited children sexualy and made insulting remarks to women both in PSO2 and Twitter. But his Twitter account(@makapo_SS) is still alive and what is worse, his blog and PSO2 account is alive too!m1e.png m2e.png m3e.jpg mac&bloge2.jpg

@ZundaKitsune first chat log can be considered harassment, but the translation is making it much worse than it is especially towards the end. Just your typical sh*t talking, but yes he is being a jerk.

His tweets are up to Twitter to take action, and Twitter did lock his first account. If he is doing the same thing, Twitter would have probably locked his 2nd account too.

These things are from 2014-2016, how long is enough to keep targeting people. Block the guy and move on.

I agree and there are people in my alliance that agree. Not a troll.

The age of consent in japan is 13, why would a Japanese company punish someone in Japan not breaking a Japanese law? In fact in most of the world it's 16.

@dalamar There's a misunderstanding. Japan has a law that protects all citizens under the age of 18 from sexual exploitation. See this: "Act on Regulation and Punishment of Acts Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children"
