Why SEGA wants NGS to fail? (my love letter to a dying love one)

Scratch bonuses that cost more than a new AAA title, twice a month, in a game that offers very little to do in between waiting for Gigantix spawns and UQ's.

@Archetype-Luna please take a hint. I just told you I'm not arguing the point further. Keep going n you'll be next on the blocklist. I'm trying to be respectful here

You should block yourself from forums or interacting in social media at all, Luna has never been disrespectful just counter argumenting you and stating why you are wrong (yes you are wrong).

I can only imagine how bad you do irl interactions when you come to a site where people intentionally come to argue ideas, that is what forums are made for to share and discuss ideas.

So I've been seeing some news that US politicians on both sides of the aisle are contacting publishers directly about gacha gambling mechanics in games. Starting to wonder if Sega is just rolling everything out all at once in case if some legislation gets passed this time.

I believe that the FTC gave the video game industry until 2024 to self regulate before it would host further meetings.

For a Global game, attention from even the American government post infrastructure focus is going to be devastating.

The legislation won't be done within months due to the vast amount of red tape and boring background tasks such as paperwork.

We as players are here along for the ride.

However, SEGA did handle the Casino Coin/Pass issue quite well.

I have faith that a return to a split between rotations of old AC Scratch items through the Fresh Finds (F2P) model would be enough to save SEGA from too much regulation attention by comparison to how infamously EA and Epic messed up.

Considering this, the best step companies can take is to stop Gambling systems (gatcha) and just do what Arena Net and Cacaogames do with GW2 and BDO does...

JUST SELL ME THE THING I WANT

Will it be more expensive? sure but I'll pay if it is worth it, I don't go to a restaurant pay 100$ and then pray I get the food I want to eat (specially when I'm allergic to seafood)

Btw I hope you all have 106.6US $ for the event... yes this event is a cash grab

Unlike other events from PSO2 where you could get cosmetics from NPCs in the plaza like EVERY SINGLE OTHER EVENT in Old PSO, this one is A CASH GRAB 106$

So if you where planing to only spend 9700AC (8200ac for 45 rolls in the AC scratch to get walking animation + 1500AC to use a 30 days premiun (Minimun it has to be 30 days)

Well sega said "F U" if you want every item you MUST charge 10k, if you are on xbox 10300AC pack 100$ +6.9$ taxes

I don't kwno why I even want the movement animations, I just stand idle for hours doing something else irl while we wait for UQ and Gigax to spawn.

@Prancing_Cat Yeah, it's pretty bad. The good news is it's over 1 month and the 2 upcoming scratches will likely put you over that amount if you spend as they are pretty appealing.

No, there is no good news here. Sega have gone full on predatory with NGS. All of the goodwill they had from PSO2 and how everybody was saying it wasn't like all of the other f2p games is gone now. Sega have fully adopted the same horrible mobile tactics with this game.

Honestly, if it carries on like this, I hope the game dies.

@HermitST But if you were already going to ! . . . its bonus :3 Its sad to see how they are making less things available to the F2P'er tho

@HermitST Yes, I was looking on the bright side.

PSO2's monetization was already like a mobile game tbh. They were already putting certain emotes behind a paywall in the scratches they were releasing. The main difference in NGS is that they decided to tell f2p players to get stuffed.

While I don't disagree it is predatory, but it is all cosmetics - they aren't locking f2p out of actual content... well there's currently no content in NGS right now so it looks extra bad. Other f2p games will lock you out of actual content or at least limit how many times and how often f2p can do it compared to someone that pays.

And I definitely live without those cheesy sonic MTNs

This is false, the vast majority of collab in PSO2 has been AC scratches.

yeh but we had sonic, Sword art and PSO1, PSUniverse, etc collabs that gave is free stuff, I'm going to change it to "other events"

@Prancing_Cat you are still getting some free stuff https://ngs.pso2.com/news/events/soniccollabevent0901

SAO collab was a rare event where they gave everything free, happened once in 8+ years of PSO2. PSO1 stuff only the weapon camo were free on global weren't they, then you had to buy ragol memories stuff for the outfits. Sonic on global was the starter pack wasn't it?

@Prancing_Cat Sega is getting more greedy and greedy with every passing month, they started to testing the waters how much they an push the barrier with removal of player shop tickets and very expensive bonus AC scratch items like movement animations. It's obvious that they don't care about f2p players or light spenders (like premium players or/and people who sometimes roll AC scratches) they want whales to whale $100+ every time there is new a scratch.

It's like mobile game except you don't get main premium currency that is worth something (AC) but almost useless SG. So it's worse than mobile or pc gacha games. At least with Genshin or DOAX VV you get daily roll and with events you can roll at least 2 times a day for free, while in PSO2 you can't roll AC scratches without paying real money, yeah on paper you could buy super expensive hairpieces/emotes/idle poses but nobody but whales or bots can afford them since per week you get just barely 1kk, while they cost at least 3 mil each. I know i earlier mentioned that f2p and premium players should get AC scratches by playing daily/weekly missions but one roll a week for f2p is not enough, it should be one roll for f2p player (you can't sell without premium anyway but at least you would get skins), at least 2 for premium players per day.

@HarmlessSyan Cosmetics are still content especially with game like PSO2, so by making it harder and harder to get as f2p players or even impossible (bonus items) they are making game worse and less fun for anyone but whales. I was spending a lot of money on PSO2 (hundreds if not thousands) when it come out but now since launch of NGS i haven't spend more than $10. Monetization is just horrible at this moment and Sega don't seem to mind that half population of NGS is being angry and leaving their game maybe even forever.

Hear me out. I'm making this statements for WHALES... I don't give a care about F2P players nor the "you don't have to get everything" kind of people this is for whales that want to have every item they like (like me) we basically bought our right to complain.

Ac Scratch 45 rolls:

53.99

31.99

6.99

__

92.97$ 8200 AC item cash gated x3 278.91US $ MONTHLY

Even after only doing 2 per month it will be 185.94$ MONTHLY

Premium (because you want to sell all the useless ugly stuff from the scratches):

31.99

12.99

__

44.98$ 1500AC Premiun MONTHLY

If you do all scratches to get the gated items and pay premium= 230.92 $ MONTHLY

September worths right now 323.89$ (since it has 3 AC scratches) but since it has an event that forces you to SPENT 10k AC you actually need 237$

237$ to stand Idle waiting for UQ and Gigax doing nothing unless you like to ERP.

Now FF XIV a game with years of meaninful content and still more coming:

12.99$ monthly(77.94$ 6 months pack)

40$ whale item (literally a whale mount the most expensive one)

__

52.99$ monthly

there is a monthly 177.93$ difference between playing Final Fantasy buying 1 whale item that YOU DON'T HAVE TO GAMBLE FOR and PSO2:NGS each month, I could buy x4 more 40$ on FFXIV items and still won't fill that gap.

(Even after this I'm sure there will be one guy saying "I have no problem as F2P" COPE harder leecher)

@Prancing_Cat ok... then feel free to end NGS and just play FFXIV. I'm currently paying for FFXIV sub also and in both games I pay at most the monthly fee. I don't need any of the fashion item from the mog station (and there's quite a ton of mog station exclusives) nor do I feel the need to pull any AC scratches on PSO2 - I'm fine with just buying what I can afford with either premium or just shop pass and sometimes I even let that run out and it cost me nothing. SEGA isn't deserving much of my money right now, why are you all so eager to do those 45 pulls.

@Prancing_Cat You did forgot to the factor in the every new 2 year expansion pack price which is $60 for the COLLECTOR’S EDITION of that said expansion pack or $40 for the expansion pack itself.
