Should Sega merge the ships on Global server?

steamnumbers.jpg

Clearly there's isn't enough player demand to justify having 4 different ship servers available if we go by Sega's in-game population status and Steam statistic figures. Merging the ships together would allow more players to be able to play together, create a healthier economy as more supply of AC scratch items are now available on the market, and would be easier on Global side's maintenance and GM crew to have to only manage one server rather than several.

What do people here think?

Every time this comes up the person suggesting it fails to consider the complexities of merging per-ship data like storage, alliances and personal quarters without causing some of players' virtual possessions to be deleted or the danger of a population spike from a good update that one ship would be less able to handle than four.

Also this feels like a backdoor "Look at the low population" topic and we already have some of those knocking about.

Also alliances with the same name as one on another ship since two alliances on the same ship can't share a name.

I'd be more interested in a block consolidation first. Hack off another 30 blocks or so.

25 blocks per ship should be enough

Idk if there is any point in reducing block count since blocks don't really matter anyway in ngs. I'm pretty sure when you move between zones you automatically switch blocks to join rooms that have space.

The only point in reducing number of blocks would be cost cutting if every block consumes resources

Nah. For the day they get their act together and breathe new life into the game through real content updates and gameplay loops people can enjoy, it can stay 4 ships. They can just reduce the number of blocks for now if needed. Should probably chop it down to 20

Yeah, it's probably the best option to keep cutting down on blocks for now instead of ship merges.

IF they were to do a ship merge, they would have to give like a 6-8 weeks heads up or something, since they would have to do A LOT for that.

Imagine the preemptive name squatting if it was ever announced.

So... Never?

@Furious-0 There is hope, even if just a glimmer

That's incorrect, when moving between zones the player stays in the same block. Only the urgent quests switch block automatically.

They should merge all ships and global with JP at this point. Private servers on MMO's have more players than this FFS. Some 20 year old games like FFXI almost had more people than this playing on Asura...absolutely pathetic.AlmostSub4kMeme.jpg

@Shiyo Sega aint want that kinda mixture

Yeah, they don't want us to inform JP just how much they have been screwed. 👍
