NGS Love

Just want to throw this out there:

All the animosity directed at NGS?

I love it, it's beautiful. Keep it up.

KTHXBAI!

I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread was, but I'I think the animosity is directed more at SEGA who's proudly shown to have earned nearly a billion dollars from PSO2-Classic, yet continue to having us premium users micro-manage our shit while nickel and diming every feature even for the paying members.

New Genesis lacks a lot of things, and has if you ask me, unfairly been given 1-2 years of less development time to actually get stuff into the game before launch. That's not New Genesis' fault, the game itself is a good foundation. But that's also all it is currently.

If as a paying member, I'm still expected to buy a Salon Pass, or wait for them to hand me out an N-Colour-Pass every 3-4 weeks then that's gonna get a pretty huge pass from me. I've been a premium member for years and feel like my wait has bene for nothing. My hope for New Genesis giving base Premium Users a bit more value is now gone 2 months after launch.

Mission Pass Gold Ticket removal from the Premium set saw its price drop from 1500AC to 1300AC. Then trading got removed "temporarily" (is it still? Or is it gone for good now?) Now Symbol Arts are gone unless someone goes in and activates them by hand, and lets be honest most people won't.

One by one we're seeing perks removed from the monthly Premium set while people have to point out that this is a perfectly fine game (The comment by the user called SEI_JAKU) and that those complaining are f2p users hating the game and turning away new people from joining. (Sorry for the giantass comment of mine that followed that specific post.)

As a Premium user we get no Material Storage to help save us time when doing quests through its QoL features, because paying money in a free to play game tends to help save time (lowering timers, etc.) We get no trading and see the price unaltered despite it having been listed as a perk in the 1300AC price.

Symbol Arts might as well be gone now so your extra slots Premium grants you is now also moot. We get asked a pass every time we want to edit our customization options, be it proportions of our characters or the colours of our outfits (or CAST parts.)

Why are the passes not something free players get to fish for while those of us paying 1300AC a month can change our themes on a whim? We have seasonal times coming, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc., nevermind the cosplay potential the game has.

You can't proudly advertise how amazing your character creation is and how you can customize yourself however you want if even after paying 1300AC I'm expected to be bound by passes while other features are removed without the price dropping.

I mean look at this, what you're still looking at as a Premium member:

alt text

15 Scratches (30eur) for an N-Colour-Pass. And another 25 scratches on top to get another, totaling 80eur. A premium user shouldn't have to fish for what should be basic features in a game who's content is mostly about fashion.

And I personally don't want to partake in this nonesense if I'm struggling with money enough in life, but still find a way to gladly support the game I very much love more than any other franchise.

Also red boxes still give meseta. Why are they still giving meseta? Who keeps saying "No." to the one on the team bringing up how its an exploit that's openly known and abused?

But oh yeah, this was a thread about love. And I'm really sorry to disappoint in that regard but the parent company, the one who made this game needs us to give them even more money while we the paying customers wait, and beg for content and mercy on being able to customize our characters.

This animosity is not beautiful, nor is it wrong. Its more painful for me because PSO2-Classic has pretty much been my main game since it launched in JP and I have been a Premium member for years now. And I feel insulted at how grubby New Genesis is continuing to be.

In times of trouble where people have trouble paying their rents or health services due to a global pandemic, its absolutely disgusting for a company to ask 90 euros for ONE cosmetic while gladly lining another cool cosmetic for a scratch two weeks ONE week after that, once again asking for another ridiculous amount of scratches.

These are cosmetics that not even us monthly paying for Premium can obtain

So tell me, what really sets us apart from non-premium members? Because it feels like we're bound by the exact same rules except we get to sell things on the player shops. Time and time again we're made to feel like we're not the target of the game but are mere "free player who spent 1300AC for a 5% boost, extra stamp and player shops"

Because at the moment, I feel as an NGS-Only player that's finished PSO2-Classic, both my time and money are wasted as a premium member. And you have to understand that it becomes very hard to love something that feels like it can suck your income dry and still not give you what you want, or be satisfied only to ask you to do the same the week after.

I'm very well aware that this is a game solely made to milk whales, and I guess that's what I'm hoping changes because my love for the franchise alone is not gonna keep me playing the game, not anymore.

I love the game.

But its not really a game yet, its an empty foundation of a game.

A foundation that wants to milk you dry just so you can prance around in your fashion while an unfixed exploit continues ruining the economy.

Also don't forget to scratch for the N-Colour-Passes if you like changing your colour themes often but can't because ???.

There are things you can roast NGS for but complaining about part of cosmetics being overpriced or bad premium value in a wall of text is probably the dumbest shit I have seen. The whole idea that endgame is fashion was a mistake.

Literally just don't pay for cosmetics or even the premium when you have money problems.

Annotation:

The notion that "fashion is true endgame" naturally emerged from the fact that everything else suffers from planned obsolence. Stats keep progressing - more levels, better items, new buffs. It's an endless carrot chase that quickly feels pointless, because all your previous investment gets devalued over and over and over. And that's before the debate of catch-ups even rears its ugly head.

Cosmetics usually remain the same and it's extremely rare that the exact same thing is offered in better quality. Getting a reward that you can keep through the next update cycle (or even several years) feels a lot more rewarding than one you already know you'll have to discard in a few months. And that's without accounting for the fact that a neat outfit might be more visually appealing than higher numbers (mileage varies of course). As a result, many people became more motivated by cosmetics than stats.

That's it. Thanks for tuning in to my random ramble.

I'm not specifically talking only about myself. I have enough money to spend on entertainment, but when an entertainment option starts asking for 90eur before you can even have a certain cosmetic you want then a line has definitely been crossed somewhere.

"Don't pay for the cosmetics" in a game that's about cosmetics is not an option in the same manner that saying "go play PSO2-Classic if you want your perks" is "the dumbest shit I have ever seen." (I've been told this before.)

When I say I'm struggling enough with money as it is, I mean that everything in life costs money and I have no problem with that. The world wouldn't be where it is if we didn't pay for things. And I'm fortunate enough to live in a country where I only pay about 220 euros out of pocket a year for medicine after which I'm 100% covered.

However. It puts a company and its game into perspective when they would put a cosmetic you can not obtain even as a paying member, behind a scratch bonus that costs 90 euros in total. That's nearly half of what the Swedish government asks me to pay by myself. And SEGA would have you spend it weekly, or every 2 weeks.

If what you wanted ingame is from an event you missed out on, its unfortunate but it happens. If its something that was in a scratch you missed then its also unfortunate but at least it might be in another revival. Is it from a live event like a concert? That really is too bad, but at least they don't do those very often, certainly not weekly. But if you see all these cool things ingame down the line and the answer is "Its because I paid 90 euros for it," its not something that personally makes me go "wow, that's awesome!"

And people can quote "but you don't have to have every cosmetic available!" all they want, but its not about that. Its the fact that you're asked to pay 90 euros for ONE cosmetic. And you're right, I don't have to get it, and I sure as hell won't at that price, not even with a programmer's salary. But there are plenty who have the money for it (or don't, and still get it!) who's impulses and human psychology of wanting to be unique gets set ablaze by seeing an awesome way their character could be moving.

Most of the AC Scratch Bonuses have coincidentally been Motion Tickets, so a specific way your character performs an action like Photon Dash. One of the newest additions to the game that helps further customize your character in a way the game has never done before. So of course one can't be blamed to feel bummed out to see something cool locked behind such an obscene price point.

But nevermind, I'm writing walls of text and its really does feel like its all this effort going into nothing. Asking for value in your premium in terms of customizing your character without passes is probably too much to ask of poor SEGA who's got their hands full on how to handle these darned red box exploiters.

And SEGA would probably be lost without dumbasses handing them over insane amounts of money monthly due to practices that are thankfully getting banned in countries one after another for a very good reason. After all, how would any MMO in this day and age even think to succeed without a free to play model?

Its not like there have been examples laying around a massive company that made nearly a billion dollars could have learned from.

Either way. I feel bad for those who feel like they've got ants crawling over them looking for more food after you've already given them a monthly amount for a barebones experience. I hope over time the game will become what we all know it can be. But I'm done trying to bring certain issues to light that are perhaps unfair of me to expect from a monthly subscription to a service, and am therefore probably better off sticking to other games.

bad premium value

I mostly agree about the cosmetics. Costing various dollar amounts is good and well, but not the excessive gambling part that is attached to it. Bad premium value is definitely valid, though.

Plenty of people have stopped paying it because there is no reason to have it outside of shop usage. The benefits of premium are not worth it in NGS.

@Bluepantsu You seem really agitated. I think you should go outside and touch grass.

NGS is a beautiful game like OP stated and even with its flaws doesn't deserve the hate its getting from people like you and others that plague the forum.

Beautiful graphics don't make a game fun and fun is the whole point in playing a game. I wanted to love this game, I was so excited, but now even I, the ultra-casual player with roughly 3 hours a week of play time, have nothing to do. They gave us essentially nothing. I've played closed betas with more than this.

They conveniently took away Premium perks but kept the price after removing trading and the symbol art perks, and finally now they charge real money for the casino. It's all disgusting greed at this point. If I wanted another soulless cash grab, I have plenty of options to choose from but I expected more from SEGA.

They get no love from me, and likely not another red cent ever again at this point.

If people hate it they wouldn't be here in the first place.

@BarrelHunter thing is all 5he hate is to Sega ad a company/the menegmant part. Not to what there is in the game. As if there just was more of even the same is be good. Think of all the bosses was not open world but UQ's that was each hour.

I love discussing the game, and have had my moments of frustration yes. But my agitation thats regretfully quite noticeable in that post in particular came from the way I was responded to.

This forum lacks moderation, but you're absolutely right. I've got an expansiom to prepare for in another game where the money I spend feels worth it

Enjoy your beautiful game.

Are you talking of 60 dollars + 15 dollars sub to go through 150 fetch this kill this quests in which you get 5 or 6 worthy cutscenes if lucky?

@El-Zenchi Rather fetch and kill 150 times than feed a mag once a day for my content.

I donno what PSO that would be because PSO1 was once ever 3 min, and I forgot what it was for PSU. Definitely could feed them more than once in PSO2 classic, and AINT NO MAGS IN PSO2 NGS.

(yes Furious I used your post as a build up for me to say the no mags in ngs bit :p)

jokes aside, I've said it before, I'll say it again - I think we can all agree the game is good, but the problem is the company. Ain't NGS fault that it's PSU's red headed forgotten stepchild left out in the rain and was a result of an affair from a one night stand in the back of a car that got a flat in the middle of the night.

Also, that person you all keep quoting and feeding into his ego, yall should like, stop that. The amount of misinformation he throws around and the jabs he takes at you all is astoundingly stupid.

Yes, the game that upon asking that 40 dollars for an expansion gives you a full story with multiple zones, plenty of side quests and activities that keep the game alive and busy. And not to mention all the cosmetics you can earn ingame and glamour/transmog over your current armour. I mean, its the least a game can do when you pay a fixed amount like that

Buying an expansion every few years is normal for those games. So what is this game giving you for spending 90 euros? A cosmetic, yeah. Thanks!

Edit: Apparently CTRL+M posts a message so I didn't get to write what I actually wanted to and have decided to cut it short here. 😕

Edit2: Yes, I'm focusing on the 90 euros cosmetic because the rest can be gotten through other means and "patience". But you want this cosmetic? You pay 90 euros for it. At least other games have the decency to put a "reasonable" price on their cosmetics on their online shops. But SEGA's approach is scummy at best.
