Where the content sega?

This game is averaging around 5-6k players. This was a highly anticipated "mmo" rpg and not even a months time is seeing numbers that are extremely similar to base pso2 at its lowest. That's insane and anyone rationalizing that is even crazier

Gonna get called a doomsayer at this point, but I would say it's not "if" it's "when" at this point on sega shuttin' down everything but JP. Once what is left of the whales stop buying crap, it's going to happen.

It is hard to keep people in when we literally have the exact same content than at the beta. Plus uh, one very sad event shop that supposedly celebrates a milestone of years in PS with a couple decorations and the pile of cosmetics which most of them people knew they were coming.

Braver patch will be the first iteration of actual new "content".

Add to it all they cut from base PSO2. Mission Pass, rewards, concerts...

I've since quit the game, but still like to peak into this forums hellhole from time to time - but it's sad to come into a thread like this and see familiar accounts still letting sega shit on their plates. Y'all need to cut your losses and move on, and by that I mean quit and find another game.

A new region, new gear, and new classes isn't going to fix the game because of the lack of anything and everything else. It's just a hollow shell.

I rather not. Not yet anyway. The thing with this game is if you take any break you miss out on cosmetics. Yes they come back in re-runs but those re-runs don't include everything and they usually only add 1 outfit color per re-release rather than all of them. Who knows, they might turn things around. I just play less and focus on making money atm. I still enjoy playing dress up lol.

You have to understand too, PSO2 is really the only anime arpg/MMO out in the west right now that's actually decent looking graphically besides Genshin Impact but I'm already getting fucked by Sega so I'd prefer not to get fucked by the guys at Genshin too. We still have a long wait before Tower of fantasy, Blue Protocol and a couple others end up coming to the west. Until then PSO2 is all there is. I'd say stick around and limit your playtime till things get better or more content hits.

Nah, I've long since given up on NGS. Sega can't burn me if I no longer play the game. I don't need cosmetics because I have no desire to play the game. You are simply having the game waste your time at this point over the fear of missing out, which really shows how predatory the game is..

I mean it's not really a complete waste of time if you find a tiny bit of enjoyment in the game for as little content as there is. I have limited my playtime on this game big time so I don't really see it that way. Yes it is predatory. Unfortunately that's pretty much the same for all f2p MMOs. Unless something drastic happens somehow the MMO community will continue to get screwed at every corner.

It's easy to just say don't support them but even if 1 person leaves it's really irrelevant. You need a huge collective to leave all at once to send a message. When a company is getting screwed out of money then they'll listen. Just look at what happened with Maplestory.

I still like logging in and casually playing, as much as I dislike the current situation of NGS. I play other games with NGS but I really want to play more of NGS. I can wait until the time comes for them to shape up.

I still really like base PSO2 too. (as much as SEGA neglected to add things to improve the post NGS experience, looking at the Mission Badge caps..) I'll be positive about it.

@NIC Not like I'm already close to wanting to do it, I did it already once in PSO2 JP around the EP1-EP2 point where it was sort of similar to this in a way where there was a lull in content yet I was seeing endless scratches coming out, their priorities never changed lol.

Would be really silly if anyone were to call you a doomsayer on that looking at the history of every single online PSO/U game, Global servers no longer giving them adequate money? They get shut down while the JP servers live for years until the next release.

Talk about taking the meme "Phasion is the TRUE endgame" and taking it to a whole other level...

I believe there is absolutely a chunk of people who mean that phrase absolutely sincerely but perhaps misrepresent their meaning in saying so. For example people who really enjoy the character customization and spend dozens of hours on it but would never be interested in playing a dress up game by it self yet they do it in PSO2 because of what else it had to offer utilizing your custom character, meanwhile in NGS...

and not even a months time

1 month and half actually.

@hee-ho And that's good because the game has a good foundation. But don't we also enjoy playing stuff like the MtG MMO Diablo clone? That's a beta. Or other games of choice in development not necessarily MMOs or AAA like, say, Rogue Legacy 2.

I am starting to feel we should call a spade a spade. This is an open beta. We should all call this that. Promos should do so. SEGA should go ahead and say "ok, we are unreleasing the game and backing up into beta and you all can play while we add all the stuff".

Develop the social activities and add basic protections. Add side activities like the Casino was, like, for example, racing on foot and climbing up in that open world. Let us go to old Personal Quarters from NGS even if the new housing system isn't made. Add VR battle zones, random battle cocoons like Endless, enough story to call it an Episode.

Let's be more crazy even: Add a parallel set of blocks for an airsoft style of PvP. Make a battle royale mode using the open world as a map on another set of blocks making a queue. Why not? The game structure allows it.

The netcode doesn't.

I’m still holding out some hope since it’s still new but if they can’t fix everything they broke then that’s probably going to be it for me, too. I’ve never seen so much incompetence in so little time. I’ve been looking for another game, hopefully something new since I’ve played all the big ones. If FFXIV had the customization of these inferior story games I’d probably never play anything else.

FFXIV lacks customization?

A bit, yeah. I play Au Ra and our horns are tied to faces which really sucks, also not enough really long hair. I deal with it because FFXIV is virtually flawless.

@NIC At this point the gameplay is keeping me hooked. PSO2 was my least favorite game in the series by a mile, and the main reason was because I hated the gameplay, I thought it was too easy and they were just making up for the lack of depth by making it more fast paced. In fact, I quit pso2 JP a year into it, because I lost hope that sega was going to make it better, and I legit thought it was the worst game I'd ever played in my life (hated story, gameplay, f2p shit was unfun, everything you hate about pso2 now was WAY worse back then). Got back into global at the request of friends, still my least favorite by far, but it was polished in a lot of ways that I wanted, aside from the game being 100% too easy.

Here we are in NGS, I absolutely adore the gameplay, and I find it to be more challenging to do content solo than ever in PSO2 base. I can count the number of times I died to sodam, or even failed sodam depths on a closed fist, but I got combo'd to death by nex aelio in the story for making mistakes (IMAGINE getting punished for making mistakes), Nex vera smoked me a lot in the first week with its tri beam because I always wanna counter it for more damage (IMAGINE getting killed for going for more damage), I even struggled on the great wall as fighter before reaching lv 15 on any class.

Problem is, I dislike everything non gameplay related about NGS. And by gameplay I mean combat. The daily material farm (which is gonna be worse when we get more regions) is tedious, f2p has never been worse in pso2 history, open world with nothing to do once you beat cocoons, finishing everything there is to do leaves you with nothing except; Waiting for something to happen to happen eea71e44-eafc-4bd6-9ce1-97aa6359a56b-image.png (waiting for gigas, vets, EQs ect). No quest counter with repeatable quests, aside from cocoons that are pointless after a single run.

But the gameplay is there, and in my heart (and my mind is hard disagreeing after seeing that last last survey) I'm thinking theres no way sega isn't going to fix this, because they managed to salvage pso2 which imo had a much worse foundation. But the way it's headed, I most likely will quit in the future, im just gonna give it a bit longer to hopefully not continue the path it's on. But I am 100% done with the premium features til sega makes the game worth supporting.

My worry is that the new region is just going to be more of the same. If we are getting a new region just to do exactly the same thing we are doing now, then whats the point? But that is what the roadmap says, there is no hint of anything different coming with that region.

Also, this game being open world is losing it's appeal every time I load up the game. I just don't know why Phantasy Star had to go in this direction.

I also can't understand why Sega have dumped the personal and alliance quarters in this game. I'm expecting something to happen with alliances in the future and I wouldn't be surprised if personal quarters return, but these are things that should be in the game at launch. Personal quarters are something that has been in Phantasy Star games since PSU. NGS is really missing these kinds of side pieces. Concerts are expected at some point too, but again, this is something the game should have launched with.

I won't tell you how to live your life, but this is a really unhealthy way to play video games. These games companies are really scummy, they are praying on people's mental health. They target people's FOMO issues which leads to more issues like gambling. Just look at how much people are pumping into the scratch tickets because they feel that they must have an item right now. It's the number one focus of these companies, it's gross.

Ya know, I had to have this conversation internally with myself recently. The conclusion that I have since drawn is that I am very much scared of missing out on items myself, because I already missed out on items the first time around on base PSO2. As someone who never purchased AC for the purposes of playing Sega's gacha system during base PSO2, I did actually purchase this time around because I really wanted the impromptu tea emote.

After said purchase, I felt pretty terrible, to be honest. I literally fell victim to the FOMO companies exploit from their playerbase all for profit. Even though I now have said emote, I really only use it when I am getting ready for bed because I just feel, guilty, for having it, ashamed even.

Again, I want to support the game. A lot of time and effort goes into creating these worlds for us to enjoy, but not like this.

Thats my tin foil hat theory behind the existence of n-color change passes. Now that we can essentially recolor basewear, FOMO shouldn't be a big factor since we'll still be able to get whatever colors we want. At least, that's how it would be if our old color change passes worked, or if sega hadn't gone out of their way to make a new NGS specific color change pass and then proceed to lock it behind premium/bonus draws.
