Where the content sega?

Let's be more crazy even... Why not? The game structure allows it.

The netcode doesn't.

I've since quit the game, but still like to peak into this forums hellhole from time to time - but it's sad to come into a thread like this and see familiar accounts still letting sega shit on their plates. Y'all need to cut your losses and move on, and by that I mean quit and find another game.

A new region, new gear, and new classes isn't going to fix the game because of the lack of anything and everything else. It's just a hollow shell.

I’m still holding out some hope since it’s still new but if they can’t fix everything they broke then that’s probably going to be it for me, too. I’ve never seen so much incompetence in so little time. I’ve been looking for another game, hopefully something new since I’ve played all the big ones. If FFXIV had the customization of these inferior story games I’d probably never play anything else.

FFXIV lacks customization?

A bit, yeah. I play Au Ra and our horns are tied to faces which really sucks, also not enough really long hair. I deal with it because FFXIV is virtually flawless.

@NIC At this point the gameplay is keeping me hooked. PSO2 was my least favorite game in the series by a mile, and the main reason was because I hated the gameplay, I thought it was too easy and they were just making up for the lack of depth by making it more fast paced. In fact, I quit pso2 JP a year into it, because I lost hope that sega was going to make it better, and I legit thought it was the worst game I'd ever played in my life (hated story, gameplay, f2p shit was unfun, everything you hate about pso2 now was WAY worse back then). Got back into global at the request of friends, still my least favorite by far, but it was polished in a lot of ways that I wanted, aside from the game being 100% too easy.

Here we are in NGS, I absolutely adore the gameplay, and I find it to be more challenging to do content solo than ever in PSO2 base. I can count the number of times I died to sodam, or even failed sodam depths on a closed fist, but I got combo'd to death by nex aelio in the story for making mistakes (IMAGINE getting punished for making mistakes), Nex vera smoked me a lot in the first week with its tri beam because I always wanna counter it for more damage (IMAGINE getting killed for going for more damage), I even struggled on the great wall as fighter before reaching lv 15 on any class.

Problem is, I dislike everything non gameplay related about NGS. And by gameplay I mean combat. The daily material farm (which is gonna be worse when we get more regions) is tedious, f2p has never been worse in pso2 history, open world with nothing to do once you beat cocoons, finishing everything there is to do leaves you with nothing except; Waiting for something to happen to happen eea71e44-eafc-4bd6-9ce1-97aa6359a56b-image.png (waiting for gigas, vets, EQs ect). No quest counter with repeatable quests, aside from cocoons that are pointless after a single run.

But the gameplay is there, and in my heart (and my mind is hard disagreeing after seeing that last last survey) I'm thinking theres no way sega isn't going to fix this, because they managed to salvage pso2 which imo had a much worse foundation. But the way it's headed, I most likely will quit in the future, im just gonna give it a bit longer to hopefully not continue the path it's on. But I am 100% done with the premium features til sega makes the game worth supporting.

My worry is that the new region is just going to be more of the same. If we are getting a new region just to do exactly the same thing we are doing now, then whats the point? But that is what the roadmap says, there is no hint of anything different coming with that region.

Also, this game being open world is losing it's appeal every time I load up the game. I just don't know why Phantasy Star had to go in this direction.

I also can't understand why Sega have dumped the personal and alliance quarters in this game. I'm expecting something to happen with alliances in the future and I wouldn't be surprised if personal quarters return, but these are things that should be in the game at launch. Personal quarters are something that has been in Phantasy Star games since PSU. NGS is really missing these kinds of side pieces. Concerts are expected at some point too, but again, this is something the game should have launched with.

I rather not. Not yet anyway. The thing with this game is if you take any break you miss out on cosmetics. Yes they come back in re-runs but those re-runs don't include everything

I won't tell you how to live your life, but this is a really unhealthy way to play video games. These games companies are really scummy, they are praying on people's mental health. They target people's FOMO issues which leads to more issues like gambling. Just look at how much people are pumping into the scratch tickets because they feel that they must have an item right now. It's the number one focus of these companies, it's gross.

Ya know, I had to have this conversation internally with myself recently. The conclusion that I have since drawn is that I am very much scared of missing out on items myself, because I already missed out on items the first time around on base PSO2. As someone who never purchased AC for the purposes of playing Sega's gacha system during base PSO2, I did actually purchase this time around because I really wanted the impromptu tea emote.

After said purchase, I felt pretty terrible, to be honest. I literally fell victim to the FOMO companies exploit from their playerbase all for profit. Even though I now have said emote, I really only use it when I am getting ready for bed because I just feel, guilty, for having it, ashamed even.

Again, I want to support the game. A lot of time and effort goes into creating these worlds for us to enjoy, but not like this.

Thats my tin foil hat theory behind the existence of n-color change passes. Now that we can essentially recolor basewear, FOMO shouldn't be a big factor since we'll still be able to get whatever colors we want. At least, that's how it would be if our old color change passes worked, or if sega hadn't gone out of their way to make a new NGS specific color change pass and then proceed to lock it behind premium/bonus draws.

I pretty much have quit at this point (also have spent a similar amount getting cosmetics. I haven't touched global since EP4.

Pretty much I spend most of my time on FFXIV now. Currently working through the raid tier since I was busy during 5.4 with life. Static is filled with a lot of first time raiders, but we are having plenty of fun. There is also going to be a player hosted fan convention held in game at the end of the month. So going to be interesting to see how that turns out. Also, I enjoy how the devs actually communicate with the playerbase and how everything is equal regardless of whether you play on the NA, EU, or JP datacenters.

I pretty much come on here in hopes Sega gets their act together. I complain because I still care.

You have to understand too, PSO2 is really the only anime arpg/MMO out in the west right now that's actually decent looking graphically besides Genshin Impact but I'm already getting fucked by Sega so I'd prefer not to get fucked by the guys at Genshin too. We still have a long wait before Tower of fantasy, Blue Protocol and a couple others end up coming to the west. Until then PSO2 is all there is. I'd say stick around and limit your playtime till things get better or more content hits.

Well, Genshin has one thing in particular that I really like. They screw everyone over regardless of region XD. Honestly surprising since Honkai Impact gives preferential treatment to the CN servers, but Genshin at least screws everyone equally. 😛

So, simply dying is "challenging" to you? Heh.

More improtantly, the exact same thing could happen in PSO2 depending on your class/level and if you don't know the fight yet, so i don't know why you pretend it's different. It's exactly as terrible as it was before, get one-shotted/combo to death with no way out from one mistake. (IMAGINE using rose-tinted glasses)

Yes they come back in re-runs but those re-runs don't include everything and they usually only add 1 outfit color per re-release rather than all of them. Who knows, they might turn things around. I just play less and focus on making money atm. I still enjoy playing dress up lol.

Nah, I've long since given up on NGS. Sega can't burn me if I no longer play the game. I don't need cosmetics because I have no desire to play the game. You are simply having the game waste your time at this point over the fear of missing out, which really shows how predatory the game is..

It isn't news that Gachas use psychology against you. (but apparently Japanese did not get the notice to ban the abuse)

Ironic too since gambling is technically supposed to be illegal in Japan. However, due to a loophole, gacha is technically not considered gambling according to Japanese law. Same with pachinko machines apparently. It is really weird how these things are clearly gambling, but technically aren't according to Japanese law.

Well buying booster card packs isn’t gambling either, assuming that is in the same category...

@Reiven said in Where the content sega?:

@BoomBoy What are your suggestions for making end game content that lasts?

It was the question I was asking you.

My suggestions:

Virtually no level cap (make it high enough and if you play 24/7, you won't get even get there)

Craftable Fixa (resource hungry)

Instances with higher levels to accord for no level cap

More weapons/units (some rare unique weapons like PSO1)

Open up a couple areas

More monsters/harder monsters

More NPC quests and some repeatable quests

Add random generated dungeons

@BoomBoy "No level cap" is completely pointless without the content to back it up, watching numbers get bigger is now what's going to keep players interested.

Also I disagree with randomly generated dungeons. A randomly generated dungeon has alot more limitations with what can be done with the level design for the dungeon to be interesting and not feel generic than static hand crafted dungeons (PSO2 randomly generated expeditions feel very generic in my opinion), plus if a static dungeon has good rewards for speed running and/or leaderboards, this encourages replayability more than what randomly generated dungeons could, I think.

Here's what end game for this type of game should look like:

  • Difficult 1-4 player content you can spam(Divide, ship infiltration)

  • Weekly goals (Sage crest campaigns)

  • Long term goals(Zieg weapons)

  • Unique challenges for fun and titles etc to show off(Extreme quests that are 1-4 people, challenge modes, Endless, etc)

  • Time attack quests with set spawns and titles/weapon camos for beating in x time

  • Rare drops from normal enemies that are useful and powerful

  • Survival mode that keeps getting harder and harder and rewards more stuff longer you go (weapon camos / unique currency)

  • Hoard mode with unique weapon camo/titles for staying alive long

  • Boss rush mode with unique weapon camo/titles the more bosses you kill

  • Side content (Casino mini games)

  • 1-4 man bosses you need to farm a currency/key to enter and drop rewarding items and can be spammed as long as you keep farming keys/currency
