Why JP Team system is called as Alliance on EN?

Team wouldnt be more fitting for the "Clan" system?

Because they're using translations that make sense to the NA audience. We're in space fighting aliens! Alliances make the most sense in the scenarios we get out in.

They could also choose "Free Company" like FFXIV does, lol.

I kinda like it. It sounds cooler than "team" imho.

Company seems intresting but i have no idea if Square would let sega do it

Alternatives include Outfit and Squadron as well. I don't know why I can't edit my reply/post in this forum/topic.

There is good reason behind why they called it Alliance, I kinda like it.

It has something to do with the translations, they've been really open about why somethings are different from the fan translation on Twitter. Anyway, I can take a wild guess to why it is called an Alliance in the North American version:

  • A Clan is considered a group of close-knit and interrelated families. Since we are not related, this wouldn't really apply here.
  • A Guild is considered a medieval association of craftsmen or merchants, so that wouldn't exactly be right either.
  • An Alliance is considered a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations. This would apply best here.

I think Alliance sounds great, actually.

Yeah, it does sound pretty fitting. We will all get used to the translations over time. 😊

@Rzarcasm Pretty sure it's arbitrary as it's literally チーム (Team) in the JP client
