I’m worried about there being no instanced group content besides alerts.

I can’t think of any game with 100% open world that ever sustained much popularity. Besides maybe Ragnarok online. I hope I’m wrong.

Base PSO2 and UQs in NGS solve this very issue you mention.

Idk how base pso2 or UQs fix a potential issue where you play with friends and all you do is roaming around killing random monsters, because there is nothing else to do. I really hope the map is going to be much larger in the final release because the beta map was roughly 1/10 the size of your average xenoblade game.

There's things called cocoons that you can do together or solo, NGS solves this easily.

You mean the jumping puzzle that takes 2mins. Or the "dungeon" with the boss that took 8mins solo the first time.

I get where you're coming from but I hope there's a balance between open world and instanced content. I don't want it to be like FFXIV where they create amazing environment but 95% of the time you'll just be in a dungeon.

I completely agree but the content shown in the beta is very concerning to say the least. Base pso2 has no good track record in terms of quality content either. Most cocoons in the beta take 5mins to get everything out of them without any reason to replay them.

The game seems exactly like early PSO2 where all people did was form mindless death ball parties going in circles around the map and I am not saying that as a good thing though I am sure some people enjoy that.

And an UQ here and there to break that monotony up but not the greatest.

For PSO2 players put it this way... how much do you enjoy mindlessly doing Cradle over and over again?

OP wants instanced content right? there is cocoons, towers and UQs in NGS and then there is base PSO2 which is built completely on instanced content (also has an engine update to run the same engine as NGS) so I am really not seeing the issue here. If OP doesn't like the content offered then maybe this is not the game for them and they should seek alternative options.

I'm thinking there has to be more to cocoons than one-and-done trials with 0-2 per sector for maybe a couple-dozen sectors. Sure that might accumulate to around 20-50 in the game and sure most of the (early game) ones we've seen probably didn't take that much effort to make but for anyone that reaches several hundred hours of playtime they'll basically be useless icons cluttering the map for the overwhelming majority of that unless they have other purposes we've yet to be introduced to. Maybe they'll periodically reactivate with a new layout, and clearing them will provide a boon like increasing the mineral regeneration for that sector until they reactivate again.

Rooms are instanced too, but it's over a full sector and only really limited to 8 players in combat sectors (Mt. Magnus being the only one in the beta). I know it's not what Cult meant but they are essentially a large-scale Exploration / Expedition quest without an arbitrary end point, a predetermined boss and the need to return to a gateship every few minutes.

What are towers? And naw, I’ll play either way. I’ve played every single online iteration besides the card game. It’s people that I play with and in general, stay around to play.

I played early ffxi I’m fine with going to the dunes to kill some crabs and some fish until I hit 14. But eventually I want Sea and Sky type content that’s mildly instanced.

Except as Vashrzaron above mentioned, it's not much substance to them. Trust me, I don't want it to become FFXIV where they put so much effort into the overworld but it doesn't matter cuz you spend most of your time in dungeons or endgame hub. I think there can be some sort of balance to them.

focusing on the "open world" is a good thing imo and a fresh thing into smth new...ive seen people being highly dissapointed that the UQ was instance based - ive read their opinions in area chat and none seemed to like it including me...it feels nostalgic to the old pso2 but meh...focus on open world stuff sega if we want instance stuff we can go back to pso2 in just 1 click

There was a tower in the beta for you to attempt and they work similar to cocoons but seem to focus more on longer time limit instanced content.

We have differing opinions which is okay I really don't wanna go back to the dark days of being in instanced content and I want PSO2 NGS to break free of it's chains it had and show me and others a wide open world with a lot to do and more being added in updates. As @JuggernautGTX said PSO2 is 1 click away if the new setting is a problem for anyone that doesn't wanna play an open world PSO2 game for a lack of a better response.

on top of what i have said i believe that you can socialise far better in the open world of pso2 ngs than in the base pso2

after like 1 hour of grinding in our 32 man "group" the ice was breaking real quick and most peeps started to actually chat...after 3 hours everyone was joking that northern area was the new cradle....and there been alot more fun topics on the way to 15...and as mention before people were REALLY dissapointed that the UQ was instanced - we been waiting and camping the spot when the announcement popped for the first time (didn spoil myself with jp footage so i didn know whats going on - none seemed to know)

i understand that this kind of thing isn enjoyable for everyone and some rather go into their instance and run that thing over and over until their mind explodes while being literal zombies (i rarely had peeps talking in pso2 instances - like never during UQ...just everyone wanted to be done with this thing as quickly as possible and get rid of the peeps they are running with asap) sometimes i thought that i am running with bots

i love the way that SEGA is going right now and i believe that theyll create a truely beautiful phantasy open world for everyone to enjoy
