Is there secrets in this game that have not been discovered?

@JuggernautGTX said in Is there secrets in this game that have not been discovered?:

there is one big secret in this game wich has yet to be discovered....rumours about a sg support scratch popped up a while ago...wondering when the first adventurer can find those

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWoa7v4kJcM

Stop.......not cool! Lol

@RainGnyu had to do it bro im sorry xD

but i am sure there is some lore that just a few or no people yet discovered just like in all games...good thing is that the hunt will start from scratch in NGS - with a release on both jp and global nobody will be spoilered and have to hunt for those

Personally I never thought that Odin's Parallel Area was a secret, its just the remnants of The Wandering Black Knight LQ & collab reference. Also based on the Cleared COs (in the presented video above), its clear they found the portal in the Ruins which lines up where the LQ took place.

Here's a link to The Wandering Black Knight LQ on XH, skip to 8:40 if you just want to see the portal & boss fight. (Man, I can feel the nostalgia looking at the run speed.)

Dumb question, but this topic has made me realize something - was there ever a cake shop hidden somewhere in a cave in PSO2? I can't actually remember now, and if there wasn't, that's a horrible, horrible crime that needs to be immediately addressed in NGS.

There is a cake shop that can be found rarely at the coast.

the cake shop e-trial can appear on just about every planet aside from Earth, they mainly involve defending their products from enemy attacks & of course coast has you return the lost sister to the other 2.

I have only see the coast one.

@RainGnyu That is part of the Final Fantasy XIV Collaboration. Even though the collaboration is long over, you can still get Odin hijacking your missions to show up as a boss, to replace the Free Field Exploration boss at the end of the map, or for Odin to drop in his rainbow teleporter so you can go and challenge him in his arena. Of course, you will not be able to encounter this fight on the global side of things.

Odin

Odin himself isn’t a secret indeed, in PSO2JP you can still encounter him in Parallel Area and as a random E-trial in the field.

There is one thing I never figured, and perhaps PSO2 Swiki has the answer but I am just too lazy to search for it.

When you encounter Odin as a random E-trial he actually doesn’t use his default appearance and rather uses a PSO2 made character. Why is that? My theory, I think it’s a similar mechanic to the Time Attack ‘Abduction’ method. Whoever encountered it previous to you, it will steal his/her appearance and uses it against you. I might be wrong and it just uses random characters, but it’s an intriguing thought.

Some several encounters of Odin when it uses PSO2 character made appearances: (My apologies for the low resolution.)

Big Varder/Vardha

You can on a rare occasion encounter Big Varder /Vardha in the Desert Exploration/Expedition. In 9 years of playing this game I probably met him less than 5 times in this setting. The encounter isn’t a secret but I never figured the reason behind this encounter. Why did Sega made this encounter? The only link I have is that Big Varder /Vardha is a resident of Lilipa and that it’s just a random encounter with no real reason behind it. But if someone knows the real reason, I’ll gladly hear it.

alt text

alt text

De Marmoth/Malmoth

Fun fact. If you encounter this boss whether that’s as boss in the Tundra Expedition/Exploration or just as random E-trial and neither you, your partners, your mag or other mobs attack it, it will actually leave you alone. It will not attack you unless you or aforementioned parties do. This only works with the boss. Not to be confused with the regular Malmoth/Marmoth mobs, they will attack you regardless.

Hidden Lobby Assets

Rather development related than it being a secret. Shortly after each seasonal lobby expires you can occasionally find leftover assets/decoration still lingering around, they’re hidden though and the only way to find them is either with camera mods or get out of bounds with glitching through walls and floors in lobby.

Halloween assets found underneath the shop area several weeks after the lobby had retired:

alt text

Boundaries of Expedition/Exploration maps

Again not a secret and more related to the game’s development. If you can get yourself out of bounds in an Expedition/Exploration map, you can view the edges and you figure that the maps are circular rather than squared.

Getting out of bounds in Coast Expedition/Exploration:

Mob wars

Some years ago I started studying the different behaviors of the mobs, I sadly never finished it and stopped before Episode 3 came out and totally forgot about it. But I remembered concluding that Otherwordly/Special enemies (Rare rappies, Tagamikazuchi etc.) are friendly towards other species like Natives/Sylvants, Draconians/Dragonkin, Automata/Mechs & Oceanids. But Falspawn/Darkers however are hostile towards them.

And then Nyau came out and started attacking everything and my research became invalid. Encountered a Nyau attacking a Lilipan, that was a hilarious sight though. It’s rather funny when it cries for help when you defeat it while it would indiscriminately attack everything on sight. That does raise the question on whether Nyau would start attacking its own reinforcements.

Airship Pilots

Did we ever got a definitive answer to why D’nar/Diniar, Opta and Ria keep crashing their Aircrafts? Is it their skills or the ships being unreliable? Maybe both? Or perhaps something else. I assume it’s nothing to deep.

Trinities

(Forgive me for this one, I am going to use PSO2JP’s naming convention. I worked on this list while playing the JP version. It would be too much work to convert it all to the naming convention of the Global version.)

Around a year ago it struck me that PSO2 is filled with numerous 'Trinities', I assume most of them were intentionally created by Sega but perhaps there are some pure coincidental.

The first trio the game makes you aware of is the Trinity of S-ATK (MEL Power), R-ATK (RNG Power) & T-ATK (TEC Power), which basically serves as the foundation for its gameplay. (Probably the most famous Trinity is the 'Holy Trinity': the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity: Spirit, Soul & Body derived from that. Personally, I prefer the Holy Trinity of Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman.)

Aside from the ATK (Power) Trinity I wondered if I could find all Trinities the game has, I have listed below the ones I found so far. I only did Gunslash/Gunblade series for weapons because it would be too much work to cover every single weapon type. Some of these might be a hard reach.

Also don't take this too serious, it's purely an observation.

Quna

We can pretty much confirm that Quna originated from the Kingdom Hearts series, but from which brand of mob?

alt text

Is she a Heartless?

alt text

A Nobody?

alt text

Or perhaps an Unversed?

alt text

Or maybe a Dream Eater?

alt text

Perhaps she is Hikaru Utada, cause she can sing! Nah, I’m joking with this one. But the resemblance is rather funny.

Hold on hold on, this is the first time I've heard of a Cake Shop existing in this game, where do I find it and what does it do? Or is it something exclusive of the JP ver?

@Meikoloid In the Coast Exploration you have a very small chance of encountering the Naura Bakery. They show up in Emergency Trials (Emergency Code: Protect and Emergency Code: Escort) where upon completing the Emergency Trials they will let you buy from their shop. Due to the sheer rarity of ever encountering these three at the bakery you might never see them - but you can definitely hold onto their offerings at their story as a trophy. I do not recall if they had Titles associated with encountering them either.

@ErinXh said in Is there secrets in this game that have not been discovered?:

When you encounter Odin as a random E-trial he actually doesn’t use his default appearance and rather uses a PSO2 made character. Why is that? I might be wrong and it just uses random characters, but it’s an intriguing thought.

Just gonna elaborate on this: This is exactly how he works in FFXIV. When you encounter him in the field as a world boss, he'll have the appearance of whoever dealt the last blow to him. The way this works in the lore is because the sword itself is the enemy, and the person who gets the sword is turned into the next Odin. This is the reason it uses the same mechanic as the abduction, because the game already supported the feature and it fits in with the lore.

@VanillaLucia Yep I held on to the cakes as a trophy.

@ErinXh

Also, I noticed - sadly on phone and hard show pictures for the comparisons. Episode 5 has many call backs to PS2 and PS3 as well some mentions in Episode 6 that share some interesting call backs. Especially Risa/Lisa and her dialog has some interesting moments that point to PS1 and 4.

Oddly enough, though most the games can be either stand alone in an ever growing series, but all have the same theme.

Dark Force/Falz is an inter dimensional entity bent on destruction and some poor soul gets used to "contain" it and some over zealous researcher / leader gets Corrupted by it and all hell breaks loose.

Also loved how you pointed out too with the CAST characters, how they are inspired by their classic counter parts, who share very similar experiences and interests- while holding most CAST npcs are often seen as being much, much older, while letting some comments about previous encounters with similar issues happening what would be detailed as eons ago in their time line.
